Don't get wrong here, i'm glad my unit is fixed..but like most of us heavy users in here, garmin has two things that you can rely on. They do not make a unit that works properly from the get go and when they finally fix it they discontinue it. Now we are seeing the 37xx with its problems. So where should the praise go? Mainly us users who tell them whats wrong. What do we get for our trouble? Frustration for one, cause it takes them a long time to come up with a fix. IF you MUST thank some one for fixing what shouldn't be broken in the first place, thank the people in here. They don't get paid and they don't ask for anything. With out them Garmin wouldn't do anything. You can also bet your bottom dollar they watch this website. Now that i'm done Ranting I bid you farewell for a week, gonna spend some time in Oregon.
Oh ya forgot, without the people in here I would have chucked my 765t a long time ago. They showed me the difference between manufacturer error and user error.

On the bright side based on comments from 765 users about the latest update. You now can get a unit at a very good price with lots of extras that are going away on newer models.
Is anyone else still having traffic reception problems with the new update?
Even thou I installed the latest updates when they came out, this was the first trip I took to an area I KNOW has traffic service. I still had either no icon and/or a gray icon. Also, even thou I have the latest map update, when I powered on the system for the drive back home, I got a msg about my map being down level and over a year old.

Yes, I agree there are still some problems, ( trafic not working perfect, eco-route you are not able to enter decimals anymore, language guide stopped work completely, getting map update message even if your map is up to date, etc.) but, at least the main issue with keyboard was resolved. That was the biggest problem of 765t and though the 765t still doesn't work perfect, it is at least more acceptable for most users after 4.0 update...
Traffic icon truning grey is still a problem though it is better now. I using MSN Direct receiver these days, even MSN traffic goes grey but not that often like Free traffic. I hope they will fix this issue in the next update.

I am well aware of that. All I am saying is the problem with the firmware. The comparison I gave was to prove that there is still a problem with firmware. I got MSN subscription for $20 for the remaining period. It works lot better than TMC.

I had the grey icon problem also. Garmin emailed me this fix and it worked. I have not had any problems since I tried it:
1.Power your device on
2.Touch View Map
3.Touch Speed (If you are currently in a route this
may be changed to Arrival)
4.Touch and hold the middle of the MPH Speedometer
5.Touch Next until the Blue banner
says either ?FM Table, GTM Tables, GTM Info? *
6.Touch Reset
7.Touch Yes
8.Touch Quit
9.Touch Back to return to the main menu
*If you are using a nuvi 1200, 1300, or 1400 series, follow these steps:
1.Power your device on
2.Touch View Map
3.Touch Speed (If you are currently in a route

4.Touch and hold the middle of the MPH Speedometer
5.Touch Developer Info
6.Touch the Down Arrow
7.Touch GTM FM Table
8.Touch Reset
9.Touch Yes
10.Touch and hold the Back button to return to the main menu
After this is complete, repeat the steps to plug the Traffic Receiver/Vehicle power cable into the vehicle
and then into the GPS device or cradle. Allow the device to receive GPS signal along with the FM signal.
This process may take up to 20 minutes.

Went into GPS Central only to find the 765T marked as "Discontinued". Seems it just came out less than a year ago
This is incorrect. The 7x5T series came to market in June/July 2008. I bought my 755T in Oct. 2008. So the 765T was an active model for over 2 years ... quite a long time compared to other models.

Thanks for your advice. I will try it. Garmin advised me as well to try this before firmware 4.0. But it did not fix the issue at that time. But I will try it again.
Thanks. I still get the gray icon occasionally. I will try this fix and see if it helps.
I have seen the occasional gray icon as well with 4.0 but I have discovered it is actually been related to poor signals. One feature that was the nice about the older GTM 20, which I am using with my 765T, is that it has a signal LED on the housing. If it is yellow, then there is a signal problem. I had the gray icon appear on my screen only to look down and see the LED had changed from green to yellow. With the newer style GTM 20, you do not have that visual indicator.
One alternative, if you are concerned there may still be a bug, is to go into the diagnostic menu mentioned above and scroll to the "GTM Status" screen. There you will want to see a status in the upper right corner of "1-Running" and "5-Sync". Also, check the error count as well. If the status is not synced and running or there is an extremely high number of receive errors, then the gray icon will appear.

I have a 760T. Works great. Needed one more so i bought a 3760T. Nice display but it didn't work. Extremely slow, hopeless touch screen, etc, etc. Returned it an bought a 765T.
Problem: I have no grey nor green traffic icon at all. The status "PDN State:" reads "0-Power up" even after 10 hours. The LED on the GTM21 shows blinking yellow.

What is wrong? Is it just poor reception?
You are probably outside of the reception area. See if you should have coverage by looking at http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/ . This the coverage you should have with the "free" coverage with a 765T.
Does any get annoyed of the speed limit turning red when you go only over 1 mile over the speed limit?
I am annoyed there have not been any firmware updates since 4.0. Garmin broke the built-in GLG and have not fixed it. Plus there are still random crashes related to traffic reception. I am guessing the 7x5 series is what it is and no further updates will be forthcoming.
Garmin broke the built-in GLG and have not fixed it. Plus there are still random crashes related to traffic reception.
What is GLG?
I have 2 765Ts, 1 for my wife and 1 for my daughter. I have switched the traffic power cord from my wifes to my zumo 660 so she has no traffic while my daughters does. Neither of the 765Ts appear to be having any shutdown problems though my zumo does. But the zumo shutdowns appear to be after or while I attempt to do any Where To searches.
GLG = Garmin Language Guide. The voice feature was broken. It no longer speaks.
I get crashes when there are traffic alerts on my route and I start interacting with the device. I can often get it to crash by having it display traffic incidents after it has switched itself to traffic display mode. I have been letting the crashes accumulate in my device's memory until such a time Garmin feels like letting us upload them to them. The register and memory dump locations are pretty consistent.
I don't guess my wife or daughter use the GLG (thanks). I don't use it on my zumo either. I can pretty much guess my daughter doesn't do anything with her traffic other than notice its on the screen. I did check both 765ts and neither one has a single error logged in it since updating to v4.0.
I had a very specific crash on my zumo where I pulled off the interstate to get a drink and as soon as it started to recalculate it crashed. I emailed Garmin and told them I wanted a place to upload the error file. They actually requested I send them the GarminError.xml & GarminDevice.xml files. Then 3 days later a software guy emailed me, said he was investigating the crash and asked if I could send him the complete track from that trip, which I did.
On the website there is no way to attach files. Try emailing them with a specific crash and tell them you want to send the error file. When they return your email hit reply and now you can attach you error & device files, whether they like it or not. Thats my new procedure.
I also asked for an explanation in return. So far it has been attributed to a map problem that they are trying to trace.
