Beta file has the street

Beta file has the street names. It changed when you hit active member status.

Miss POI

Why do both red light files exist?

Is there a reason one would not want to load the Beta version?

Only active members get the

Only active members get the beta;)

beta

ok...beta version is thhe best??"better??

Some people like having the

Some people like having the street names come up on the screen to help them better identify the intersection.

Miss POI

beta....

ok.ok...Beta.csv is bonus...smile

I just recently started

I just recently started using the "beta" file. I like it much better as I can see the name of the streets at a particular intersection with the cameras.

OK.....so where the heck am I?

The beta is the best.Not

The beta is the best. Not sure why the regular one is still there unless a lot of people are still using it.

Beta is The One

The street names really do help especially if you are in a tangle of redlight camera installations. The name does not display too long, but if you can glance at the info it can really help.

beta

...yes...much better,next time..just redlight-camera with interesction name(one file) not beta.
good job
Thx.

Not sure why the non-Beta is

Not sure why the non-Beta is even offered. I like the Beta version best because of the intersection street names.

Welcome Update

We have some streets stacked 3 high with lights so the warning goes off and you don't know if it is on the street you are traveling or not. This will be a big help.

I have been active for a

I have been active for a while now posting and now when I look at my account it says I'm now only active in 1 of 5 weeks. sad ;(

I don't see it

Where is the Beta file? I only see the normal redlight csv.

Thanks, never knew why/what Beta had

I'll run it this time. I was afraid of beta/test not knowing what it had.

I see 3 files.

3 Files

For Active users, yes, there are 3 files in the Zip. The 1st one is the Beta:

Redlight-Beta.csv
Redlight-Cameras.csv
Speed-Cameras.csv

Are you a paid but not active member?

There was a discussion earlier about this. This probably applies to you since you don't have your "Active User" windmill. I assume your access to the redlight file is due to a paid membership rather than active user status as discussed in another series of messages:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/22744

ok

I figured paying out the cash would give access to all the files. Guess not.

Beta File Gets My Vote

The beta file is the one that I like.

Cool.......

Cool.......

Name Change?

Perhaps the Beta file should be renamed to "Redlight Camera Pro" or something like that. Since the "Pro" in a software title typically indicates additional features (usually costs if original is free). Might clear up future confusion.

Ah ha...

now I know why I don't have Beta any longer!! I have older Garmins, 350, 360(2) and a 370. I all but rarely visit here, because there isn't too much said about older Nuvi's anymore, only the new flashy models...and lost my status, oh well, looks like beta is a thing of the past for me, still a fantastic site though. I do download the regular red light cameras weekly. Keep up the good work, worth it's weight in gold!

Beta Means Temporary

This is a beta file because it is a work in progress. Miss POI has plans to make it even better. The ideal intersection of two roads with four red light cameras simply does not exist. The future beta will have info on which roads do or do not have cameras as well as the non-standard intersections. Alerts will be given only if there is a camera on the street you are approaching on.

Beta...

Looking forward to downloading the Beta tonight.

I agree that at this time the beta file is better...

Beta is better

I don't know how you all do it. Every time I think I have found a "NEW" RLC somebody beats me to it.

Jeeze!!

Thanks to all!!!!

Thanks...

for setting me straight!! I'll try to do better next time, and not lose the "Beta"!

Beta Version

The beta version is better as you can see street names. I have been using it since it came out. If your not a member, than you should be, for this version alone.

You got what you paid for

donbadabon wrote:

It's not that hard to get a windmill, you got what you paid for, both the red light and speed camera files. Want more, be a contributing member and get the reward for that as well and the beta will appear like magic.

Beta is betta'

I've been using the Beta for quite some time and love it.

You guys rock, keep up the good work.

Beta

I always use Beta File. Because it makes me learn the locations with street names.

Thanks.

Beta

For nex time beta is normal file- standart.. intersection with names is good idea.

Ohhhh....

I was wondering what you guys were talking about. I only got the two .csv files too. I guess it takes more than a MOO award and a paid subscription to use it??? sad Too bad, I am really trying to figure out some things comparing my two nuvi's and I have never had any traffic cam files before (but getting a ticket last week makes me much more interested).

What is the difference between the red light and speed files? I see some have the same cameras listed, so are they redundant or should you install both? Are some cameras both "speed" and "red light" or always separate?

Some units are both red light and speed cameras to catch those that speed up to beat the red. So yes, they are different in that when it's not acting as an RLC it's playing speed camera.

Some cameras catch both speed on green and red runners, IIRC.

Thanks for the clarification...

So I'm assuming you guys load both POI .csv files from here. Now, with the talk of the elusive "beta" file, is that red light, speed or both? If you have the beta is that the only one you load?

Redlight Files to load

For the Redlight, you load the beta, for the speed, you load the Speed-Cameras. Actually, the choice for download is now:Red Light Cameras w/ Streets Names 2010-03-24, however the download file is Redlight-Beta.

Thanks....

I really am a lot more concerned with speed cameras than red light. Speed can cover a lot of extenuating circumstances but you either run a red light or you don't. I don't have problems with red lights.

The Beta version is available and can be used with the models you now have. It is not restricted to the newer models only.

Nope

SWLinPHX wrote:

but you either run a red light or you don't.

Not true. You cannot say that in all circumstances. "Running" a red light may simply be avoiding having to perform an unsafe stop. Drive up in New England during the winter sometime and you'll see what I mean. Many times it's a LOT safer to just continue rather than spin out in the intersection.

I'll go with BETA!===>>>BEST

For me

the beta file is a huge improvement in functionality. Thanks for such a great resource!
