GPSMap 60CSx locks up after custom POIs loaded

Has anyone else experienced this? My 60CSx always worked fine until I found out about custom POIs and loaded some on it.

After loading them my gps started locking up. After driving for about 10 minutes, the unit becomes unresponsive. Pushing buttons does nothing. The only thing to do is turn it off (the screen fades out slowly, unlike the usual beep and switch off behavior).

I restart it and a few miles later it locks up again, and again and again. Basically it is useless. I removed all custom POIs and now the unit works fine.

I sent Garmin a message but got no reply so I am assuming I just cannot have custom POIs sad

Are the POIs on a SD card?

Are the POIs on a SD card? I wonder if the SD is messed up and the unit can't read it so it locks up. Just guessing.

I am pretty sure it records them on the SD card.
The way I got them off of my gps was by clearing out the SD card.

I can view the POIs, select different POI databases, etc. The lock up occurs at random times. I'll just be driving and the unit will lock up on its own (without me even using the POIs).

I would think if the problem was the SD card I would also have problems using the maps, which are stored on the card.

I have a similar problem

I have a similar problem each time I am in this area and Red Light Camera .mp3 goes off, my Nuvi 680 freezes, it does not matter if the unit is on battery or using the power of the cigarette lighter; but when I remove the sd card from the unit, everything works normally. I tried to find out the specific lat;long in the file I d/l from POI-Factory and it seems ok, I asked Miss POI to check it out for me, but maybe it could be a bad spot on the sd card causing the problem, I will switch cards today and give it a run and see if could have been the problem..

Yeah, that is what I am guessing, that perhaps a sector on the SD card is messed up somehow.
