Custom POI and GPSMAP 60CSx

Is there a way to create multiple "Custom POI" groups on my GPS? I am able to grab a POI file and load it to the GPS but I can't figure out how to select different POI groups. Whenever I include secondary subsets of POIs, the POIs merge into a single POI file. Can someone point me in the right direction on this please?

You just need to create subfolders on your computer before you load them with POI Loader. The folders will create categories. You can't have more than one level of subfolder. The files themselves will create the subcategory.

For example, it might look like this.

> My POI (Main folder)
>> IHOP (subfolder)
... IHOP.csv
... IHOP.bmp
>> National Parks (subfolder)
... National Parks.gpx
... National Monuments.gpx
... National Recreation areas.gpx
... National Parks.bmp
... National Monuments.bmp
etc.

In this example, IHOP and National Parks show up as categories and then under National Parks, the subcategories of National Parks, National Monuments, and National Recreation Areas show up.

Here are some screenshots of what it would look like.

This is a shot of the folder and files on my computer.

This is how the first level shows up on my GPS unit.

When I select the National Parks category, this is what I get.

Then if I select National Monuments, I get this.

Follow up question please

Thanks for the explaination. I created a folder called c:\POI and under that created C:\POI\MN Lakes and another, C:\POI\MN Trailheads. each of the subfolders contains a single .csv file.

I then start POI Loader and select each of the files and upload. I get a success message back.

When I navigate to "Custom POIs" on the 60CSx only one of the data set comes up as a viewing option.

I'm trying to get it so when I go to Custom POIs, I can pick from a number of POI sets, that I have set up as you instructed in individual folders.

Based on what I have explained here, can you see what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you for your response.

Which Folder

Just from your description, I am thinking that you are loading one POI at a time. When you run POI Loader, point the loader to the folder "C:\POI", not the subfolders.

The POI Loader overwrites the previous upload everytime you run it. It appears from your description that you may be running the POI Loader and pointing it to "C:\POI\MN Lakes" then running it a second time pointing it at "C:\POI\MN Trailheads". If this were the case, only the MN Trailheads file would show up on your unit.
