nuvi 265 wt shows driving next to a road but not on it?

I returned from a northern WI trip a couple weeks ago where I had a problem with my icon positioning. It seemed to travel just off the mapped highway for periods of time then the unit would say " satellite signal lost" or something similar and then would sort of reset itself. I have not seen this since returning home. Could this be unit or cable/ antenna positioning? I now have the unit lower on the windshield.

Satellites

I had the same problem when traveling through the hills in Missouri earlier this summer. Most of the satellites were near the horizon and the unit was only tracking two or three at best. I was traveling on a route and it kept recalulating on the wrong roads. Haven't had the problem since. It was tracking twelve the other night.

Wrong Road

I often see this especially when I am on an access road next to the freeway. Sometimes it puts me on the freeway while I am still on the access road.

Nuvi 265wt

Hi, I know this isn't helping your problem, I haven't had any issues with mine. Perhaps if you reset the unit, maybe that will solve the problem. To reset the 265wt, hold the off button, to the far left, & hold it for 10 seconds. That should reset the unit.

Also

Make sure that the Usage Mode under the System preferences didn't somehow get switched to pedestrian and is still checked as Automobile.

New maps

The last time I saw this was with my old garmin Map76 S. It would show me running alongside the highway. It was cured by installing the latest map update on my computer and then transfering the latest map to the unit. I guess the GPS was giving me the correct position but the map was not accurate.

Nuvi 250W

I did get this problem on my 250W, but not every time, I think it is a satelite problem or a bad reception.
