Can I Speed Up Simulated Navigation

If I turn on the GPS simulator and simulate travelling a route to some destination is there a way to speed up the process?

.

Unfortunately there is no way to speed up the simulation.

As GadgetGuy Said,

In a word - no.

LOL

Thanks for answer

That was going to be one of my future questions.
Thanks for the future answer. Even though I do not like it.

You can not speed it up but

You can not speed it up but you can trick the gps to put you closer to the location using the set location. Then simulate from the new point.

Simulate Trip

So what's the problem here? Is there something wrong, if it takes 20 hours to simulate your trip to Florida.

Half the time, there's nothing good on TV anyway, sso why not watch the simulation?

I know. It really does suck, that you have to watch in realtime.

Good Thing

Good thing it doesn't include bathroom, gas, and food breaks. That 20 hour trip to Florida could be much longer.

Kansas is a killer

The simulation across Kansas is a killer so many farms to pass by.

Why do you want to speed it

Why do you want to speed it up?

Do you want to see the route it is taking you on?
If that's the case you can click on the bottom right for turn by turn directions and total time.

simulated route vs turn by turn

personally I have never used the simulated route. I have used the turn by turn option many times to get an overview of where I am going.

The most obvious use for simulation is to determine whether a given POI will give an alert and what that alert will look and sound like as you travel past it.

Yes, there is

There actually is a way to speed this up on some models. However it would be very dangerous and highly impractical.

Drive around for a while at double every posted speed limit with the Garmin turned on. Then the Garmin will "learn" your drving habits and how fast you typically drive on the different road categories and will apply that information to the simulated mode as well.

Note: I do not actually recommend doing this and am posting this only for fun.

My old Magellan

permits me to modify the simulation speed. It's a valuable feature, IMO. Doing it in real time while sitting in your house can be a real drag.

Older Garmin units allowed increasing/decreasing the simulation speed. My GPS V and Quest both had this option. No nuvi that I've ever used does.

Lane assist

The main reason I use simulation is to see lane assists (multiple lane arrows) when planning a route, so I can know in advance what lanes I need to be in. The turn-by-turn list has a "lane assist" button, but it is really junction view and only shows interchanges that have junction view. Simulation is the only method I have found to see the multiple arrows. Does anyone know of a better method?

Wow, you really plan a route! I find the garmin gives ample warning of what lane to be in while driving a route. May not be necessary to view/write them down in advance?
