LOL ... yeah, they're ready to roll

Whiz Detty is a whiner!

I think it is great if everyone appeals every ticket and grinds the system to a halt. I also think it is simply atrocious that if you need to find out about how to appeal the ticket, they want you to call a PRIVATE COMPANY who puts these things in and who profit from the tickets to get information.

On the other hand...

I think idiots like this need to be slapped. You are not special, you are not above the law...

Quote from article...
"I had no idea who to call, because I wanted to let them know the camera shouldn't be taking pictures of people making right-on-reds, as long as they're going slowly," [Whiz Detty] said.
...end quote.

Hello? You just stated you ROLLED through the red light. Red means STOP, not stop if you feel like it or slow equals stop. It would be one thing if this guy had a legit complaint like the yellow light timing is set to change to fast catching you in the intersection or if you come to a full stop but are a bit over the line you get a ticket. In this particular case, he ADMITS not stopping on a red and then has the nerve to claim he should be exempt because he did it slowly.

Cheers,
PT

I wouldn't be to concerned that they won't figure that out, even if they have to take the guy off the lawnmower from parks and recreation to sit and hear appeals.

You have to believe that the cameras have one purpose, and thats to make money, and if they can make more money than what they pay the guy to cut grass, GUESS what.. theres their man. to get the job you don't have to be a judge, arbitrator or even a lawyer, the a parks and recreation guy will do fine in a suite behind a desk after all if he can cut a straight line he can definitely look at a picture and see if your crossed the line on red.

Here in Cleveland you go before some guy in the parking ticket department in the city justice center. He is looking at a monitor and your looking at a monitor he has a Microphone and you have one too, and it's all being recorded.

I asked him are you a Judge, he said NO.
I asked him are you a Lawyer, he said NO.
He said I am a department clerk.
I asked him does this stop me from getting Plates, He said NO.
I asked him does this give me points on my license, He said NO.

I said then I'm not paying, he then reduce the fine by 50%, I went to the parking ticket window and paid the ticket.

I can remember when the law

I can remember when the law started it said "red turn on red after stop and when traffic clears." Now it's do a rolling stop and pull out into oncoming traffic and make oncoming traffic hit the brakes.

You may make a right on red AFTER stop. I believe that is what the man said.

Right on red is fine... AFTER A COMPLETE STOP first...

Of course I do. I realize turning right on red is legal... AFTER YOU FIRST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, making sure that there is no oncoming traffic, and then only when deemed safe, you may then proceed to turn right on red.

I am not aware of any state having the law read that you can roll through a red light turning right without first coming to a stop first.

Still Caught

Yes, but she does not say she didn't stop. She just says she went through slowly. This could have been after the stop. The cameras have been known to take pictures of right turns on red no matter if the person stops or not. Taking the turn too wide and crossing the imaginary line the camera sees between turning and running the light can get your picture taken. I was giving the lady the benefit of the doubt.

The first day the cameras went live on the freeways here some guy got 7 tickets that day. He got to be on the news.

Besides being the only place that it is illegal to make right turn on red … NYC refuses to post signs as you enter the city. Staten Island is also part of NYC and they enforce the regulation there as well (no signs). The city probably counts on this revenue from ticketing offenders or else they would post the regulation. There are No Turn on Red signs as you leave the airports but not at the bridge and tunnel crossings as you enter NYC.
