Let me know how it goes, Will ya wink I'd rather let someone else BETA Test, it. My 760 is working just fine here, right now.

I notice there is no mention of 4.0

Or correcting the inability to go back to a previous version.... I think I would like to ask Garmin about that issue. I wonder it after installing it with 4.0 installed if you can revert to a previous version.

There's no mention of it fixing the commonly reported problems of the (imaginary) 4.00 either sad

(ie delayed turn announcements and lengthy boots)

I would wait a couple of days or maybe weeks and see what unfolds.... I'm sure there will be posts from people with 4.0 installed or brave souls on how it works....

No Guts No Glory!

I downloaded it off of Garmin's site and installed.

Everything including bluetooth works fine but the .1 mile navigation delay is still there.

Did not try to roll back now to an earlier version like 3.10 so do not know if that is possible again or not.

Miss POI could we get all of the different threads about this moved into one thread I think there are either 3 or 4 of them. It would make better for the ones that are looking for and answer to their problem to find it when and if it is posted Just a thought.

Did you have the option of not installing it?

When installing previous versions (up to 4.0) you had the option of not installing it after running the update. Is that available with 4.10?

I didn't see it before. The only way I would bypass 4.0 is to accept the update and then get what I want example voice update. Then before restarting unit I would delete the GUPDATE.GCD. so the update wouldn’t go through.

Testing via Simulator Mode on Nuvi 750

Using the GPS Simulator Mode:

On my 2.0Mile test using city streets, I noticed no lag at all.

On my 6.9 Mile test using the highway I noticed no lag that locks the map while she talks. However, when Jill says .06 miles it’s actually .04 miles. Ugh!

Poi Alerts running smoothly.

As for reverting back to earlier software; I just tried by deleting the GUPDATE.GCD and installing software 2.90 over it. No Joy!
It looks like I have to use the Nuvi 7xx 4.00 Firmware Fix found here to go back.

Installed 4.10

I wasn't having any *new* problems with 4.0, so why not....

I can verify that powering up with a TourGuide or POI Alert in range has been fixed.

I counted 5 seconds from "Loading Maps" to the PIN screen. From power-on, it was 10 seconds from power switch to PIN screen. I never counted before, but that seems pretty fast.

I'll wait until tomorrow's drive to work to test the rest.

I'm gonna hold on to 4.10

I'm gonna hold on to 4.10 and take it for a spin tomorrow while at work. I'll then decide to stick with it or not.

Just updated

Will post the results tomorrow. confused

I am also on the fence after

I am also on the fence after the 4.00 fiasco...

I will wait a few weeks first and let others beta test.

Beta Test of 4.1 on 750

I just updated to 4.1 on my 750 using WebUpdater. Took Jill for a short ride around the neighborhood with custom POIs enabled.

Results were better than 4.0 but not as good as 3.1. Still have a lag of about .1 mile at 25 mph. Jill's voice stuttered at least once. Will try more extensive tests later this week.

I'll be a guinea pig

I was living with 4.00, so I'll give it a try on my 750.
I can always fall back to the iPhone.

Satellite Screen

Don't know if it is just me, bug the Satellite Strength screen looks different to me. I could be wrong but......

Can this version be rolled back?

I realize it is very early in the process, but has anyone got the nerve to try to roll back from 4.1 to a previous version? Or is that ability gone forever (I suspect so). I haven't made the plunge yet on this version. Will do tomorrow after one last closely monitored trip to work tomorrow and then compare the next day with the new version.

Has anyone?

Has anyone applies the "Garmin Fix" after installing the update. You know, the hard reset...lol. Just wondering if this might fix the delay in navigation prompt problem.

I was brave and updated from 4.0 to 4.1.. So far the only change I have noticed is the satellite page has been slightly rearranged. Will update if I notice any other differences.

4.1 update

i am waiting it out, since i had so much problems recently with nuvi 760 lock-ups and tourguide. i hope that 4.1 will solve all these problems

Bit the bullet

Updated last night from v4.0 - short test this morning revealed that it installed, but still saw a delay. Will test more tonight.

Update 4.1

Just updated to 4.1. Seems to be ok so far..........bluetooth still ruined since the roolabck fiasco with version 4.0. Guess it'll have to go back to Garmin for repairs. what a silly mess sad I had hopes Garmin would have been able to give us a fix. I know that many people lost bluetooth after the rollback attempts!

Signal strength bars

johnc wrote:

The bars have always been vertical on my 750. They are horizontal on my 350.

The difference I see are that the sky map is smaller, location is placed at the top, and the bar graphs are shorter and wider.

Off to the field test.

Preliminary Report

Just installed 4.10 this morning before going to work.
I've noticed many of my custom POI's were imported into the Favorites. Odd but those can be easily removed.
The voice lag still persists maybe a slight/negligible improvement over firmware 4.00
Jill's voice is still choppy when giving directions.

All in all, it doesn't seemed to have made things worse from 4.00 but there aren't any noticeable improvements for me.

I downloaded it and will try

Drew, I had the same thing with some "new" favorites showing up after the upgrade and rebooting. What I found was that there were some miscellaneous GPX files in the GPX Folder. These were downloaded using Google "Send to GPS" and one was from GeePeeEx Editor's "send to Favorites" function. I had previously sent these to Favorites, used them, and deleted them on the Nuvi 760. Apparently, neither importing them into Favorites nor subsequently deleting them actually removes them from the Garmin/GPX folder. After the firmware update and it's reboot, my 760 saw them as "new" files and re-imported them.
As for the voice stuttering, I had a severe stuttering problem a few weeks ago with Jill. I had not changed or updated anything in a while that might account for the change. While trouble-shooting, I removed my 4GB SD card which had lots of MP3's on it and I rebooted. The voice stuttering went away. I reinserted the SD card and rebooted, and Jill has been fine ever since. If you have an SD card in your Nuvi, you might try running without it for a day as a trial.
