hi, do you have to charge the nuvi right out of the box? or should it turn on automatically? or do i charge in my truck overnite? thanks

Charging
Your nuvi should be at least partially charged from the factory. You may want to plug it in and let it charge completely before you use it though.

If it came with an AC adapter/charger, there is no reason to charge it IN a vehicle.......especially since many vehicle power plugs (cigarette lighter) are NOT hot when the vehicle is off.

You can charge your Nuvi 250w with a usb cable plugged into your computer it tells you that on page 39 of your owners manual
