Well. I customized my 200W for myself deleting unused staff, changing TTC Voice (+txt) adding some new maps (SD) and vehicles, playing with hidden screens(cheats)
It's natural that sooner or later you will be boring about your gadget and will try to change something.
Of course it's better receive new options with Firmware updates, but it seems that they don't care.
So people start to look through Internet for cracks, cheats RED Light, Speed Cameras or POI.

Piracy is different, when you get something with out paying for it, or if you sell something you haven't paid for to make a profit that is a pirate.

People tweak software everyday, Microsoft's windows gets tweaked all the time to make it run faster to keep if from getting virus's and so on.

Just don't sell your new TTSvoice edits and your going be fine, And for those that don't like the thought of editing the TTS files, just Skip this thread now that you know whats in it!

Thanks so very much for the program. I now have Jill nagging me with snide comments and Jack calling me names like your friends sometimes can. Makes the travel alot more fun. I like watching peoples faces when instead of recalculating Jack says. "Numbnut you missed your turn".

Nuvi 750 And a 2006 Star Venture between my legs.

Another problem solved with this program!

I had a volume problem with my 760. When I used the hands free bluetooth phone feature the speaker volume of the person I was talking to was too high and the only way to correct that was to turn down the master volume to 70 but then even with the navigation volume level set at 100 the navigation volume was to low then.

With this program I was able to boost the navigation volume of the voice file itself from the original level of 65 up to 95 and now even with the master volume of the 760 set at 70 both the bluetooth phone and navigation volume are good.

I can hear it now... "Excuse me sir, do you know why I pulled you over? I was behind you at that traffic light and heard some non-factory comments coming from your GPS unit..."

Alot of devices have it in thier EULA that it is illegal to modify, in anyway, the resident software. I wouldn't be suprised if it's in a Terms of use agreement with Garmin too, but you'd never be able to find it without hours of digging. Maybe it's there, maybe it's not, who cares?

This is up there with one of the best things I've found yet for my GPS!!!

Just have a backup plan and be ready to switch to a "G" rated version if you have little ones in the car.

I can hear it now, instead of "recalculating" you get something like, "where the f*#k are you going?"

Hello all!

Hello all! I just wanted to say hello to some fans of TTSVoiceEditor.

I am glad you liked the tool. It is fun to see what you have done with it. LOL!

For the voice name, just use the latest version (v2.40 at this time). It will allow you to save the voice file to any name (.vpm), but now you can change the screen name as seen on your gps in the language menu. You can put anything as long as the new name is shorter or equal in length as the original name. For example, you can change "English Australian Karen (TTS)" to "Sexy Karen". The name of the vpm file does not matter as posted already.

To get the latest version, you can go on gspreview as posted on the first post or you can go directly here:

I played around with the comas and it seems to do the trick however I'm not totally satisfied with the pronunciations, maybe instead of writing the word as it is spelled the better way is to do it phonetically.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Turbocc for developing this program that we are having so much fun with.

Phonetic Spelling

I agree with flaco. You may have to play with certain words to get them pronounced correctly.

An example in the original unedited Jill file is lines 40 and 72. Line 40 is "off of". Line 72 is "GPS is oph". So for some reason the programmers spelled "off" correctly in line 40, but spelled it "oph" for line 72. Unless the programmmers made a typo!!

thanks

this is simply awesome. thanks so much! no more annoying phrases smile

trouble

I have read it throughly. Im no computer wiz by all means.Im sure im doing something wrong. When i run the program, i cant do anything. Suggestions?

.

OK, first, make a copy of the original vpm file you are trying to change on your PC as a backup. Then save another copy to a different folder on your PC to edit. You could work with the file directly on your GPSr, but it is much slower.

It sounds like you are able to open the file, correct? Scroll down to the word or phrase you want to change and double-click it. That should open another window showing the current expression and a place to type the new expression you want to replace it with. When you are done, click OK.

When you are done making all the changes, save the modified file to your PC using the same file name and overwrite the previous file. Then, copy the modified file back to the GPSr.

Tampa, FL - Garmin nüvi 660 (Software Ver 4.90), 2021.20 CN NA NT maps | Magellan Meridian Gold

Instructions clarification

After you load the file and according to the enclosed "readme.txt" file you are supposed to click once on the word/expression to change, I found that by clicking once nothing happens but if you double click it then opens another pop-up screen where you can make the changes.

I have a nuvi 350 that has TTS and I followed all the directions for the Voice Editor. It loads a file with the correct name and it lists the correct screen name but the only data it lists are a few special characters for line 1 /t/+/~/= and line 2 $//"jB/N. Hi Mike107,

Post the *original* tts file somewhere on www dot rapidshare dot com and send me the link. I will have a look at your VPM file for the Nuvi 350. I just want to make sure I am compatible.

MissPOI, thanks for the SW contributor badge.

N.B. Yes, you have to double click on the phrases to edit them. A single click was only in earlier version. I will correct the readme if not right.

Thanks

I read on another forum Turboccc reported, Comma's slow down the speech and "." will give you a one second stopped pause. Most speech processors that I have dealt with in the past need help phoneticlly.

Yes, you have to keep the same name. It is a "bug" for now. For some reasons, the nuvi knows the 2 voices are the same and keeps the original name from the original file. I tried changing it in the GUPDATE.GCD, but got the message corrupted update.

It seems we will have to live with it for now.

recalculating is there twice...

It works already like that. It did not re-appear, it is just there twice and the message is not exactly the same.

Same thing for turn left and right. We see it twice. I changed both to different things, but I only hear one of them.

Would be great to know when each phrases is used.

Uh-Oh

So I can't rename the modified 'Jill' file to 'Mary' and load it on the nuvi along with the original 'Jill' file?

I thought that would work?!? So there's no advantage to changing the screen name to 'Mary' if I'm going to end up overwriting the 'Jill' file anyway. I was hoping to keep the factory 'Jill' file and add the new 'Mary' file.

Bummer.
