How did you find the POI factory?

We are seeing a lot of new members on these forums. I think it is great. They all have one thing in common. They all found, stumbled upon, found a link, etc. to the POI factory. I think that I saw a link on a review of GPSs, on line. I have told my friends by word of mouth.
I love to read the back of menus and learn the history of where I am eating. so I would love to know the background of The POI Factory.

How Did You Find The POI Factory?

I was browsing the Garmin site and found a link to this site. I just bought a Garmin 200 for myself and I'm giving my son a Garmin 255W for Xmas. I'm impressed with what I see here. I look forward to learning more and hopefully will have something to add to help others.

Garmin.com

I stumbled here from Garmin.com My nav is through my ken wood head unit in my car and I LOVE IT. I don't know what I would do without it. This site is really nice. I plan to use it when I buy my mom her GPS and set it up for her.

bought my first nuvi 350 and was googling POI. POI-Factory was listed. I'm enjoying this site ever since. Thanks miss POI!

Also found it on Garmin website

When I first got my Nuvi 660 a year ago, I remember seeing a link to the POI Factory, but at the time I didn't want to pay a fee for downloads. I changed my mind after cameras started going up every 2 feet in Phoenix. I'm really glad I did - this is a great service and worth every cent!

I too found this website on the Garmin Website

My first GPS was a Mio C220 and it doesn't (at least as far as I know) accept any other POIs other than what came with it.

Since Mio hasn't done anything since I've owned it, I wanted a Garmin and received one for Christmas.

It's a good thing that there's GPS systems or I would be ... always lost!

How I was "routed"(get it? huh? huh?) to this site.

I found a recommendation of the Factory while reading a review of the 765t on Terry White's technology blog, http://terrywhite.com/techblog/?p=1388, prior to my purchase. I've spent way too much of the last three weeks learning from this great site.

Thanks, & keep up the good work.

Looking for Red Light Camera POIs

Having been on the receiving end of a Red Light Camera ticket sad, I was looking for a good 'Red Light-POI' source.

Garmin's excellent website alluded to one and even had a link, but it was for Australia only. Not much good here on the West side of North America!

So I GOOGLED "Red Light Camera" and "GPS" and came up with POI-Factory... now I'm a fan! razz

How did I find the POI factory?
---
I was in Honolulu, Hawaii last summer. I had just bought my Nuvi750 from Best Buy. I had decided to take it on my trip to Hawaii.

I had been visiting and old friend at the Kapalama Military Reservation in Honolulu. We talked about old times in the Navy here in the late 50s and early 60s.

We started to reminisce about the old Hotel Street with all the sailor bars, and just how much fun it had been.

So I decided I needed to retrace my steps here from an earlier time. I programmed a route into my Nuvi, to get from where I was at to get me to my old stomping grounds on Hotel Street.

To make a long story short I was routed up Libby St. then left on Nimitz Hwy then right to Smith St them left to Hotel St.

Just after I started northeast on Libby St. I noticed a sign saying HPC Foods, Ltd and as I got closer I saw smaller letters POI Factory. Well I was surprised and amazed at the same time. Here was my first POI Factory I ever had found.

Well as it turns out later I found more.

I guess it is like when you buy a new car, you never pay much attention to that model until you have your first, then you start noticing them all over the place.

I guess I probably saw at least 15 large and small, mom and pop, POI factories in the next week.

I know it meant a lot to me. I was surprised at just how much it must mean to others to find their first POI Factory. Here on this sight a lot of people were giving their answer to the question: How Did I Find The POI Factory.

I'm very grateful for you to let me tell my story here.

Thanks to you all, you've made me very happy.

The Best !!

When I asked this question last June, I was interested on how we all got here. With out a doubt H.Hannah answer, "On How He Found the POI Factory" is by far the most orignal, in almost 300 posts. My only question was Sparky there for this discovery? By the way were has he been? I miss him.

POI's

I was just trying to get my nuvi 780 set up and as I was surfing the various web sites, POI came up and since I travel a bit and one of the main reasons for my GPS was POI's, I logged in. Glad I did. There is a great bunch of information here.
