How did you find the POI factory?

We are seeing a lot of new members on these forums. I think it is great. They all have one thing in common. They all found, stumbled upon, found a link, etc. to the POI factory. I think that I saw a link on a review of GPSs, on line. I have told my friends by word of mouth.
I love to read the back of menus and learn the history of where I am eating. so I would love to know the background of The POI Factory.

Red Lights

I think I was probably looking for a Red Light Camera database when I first came here. I may have heard of such a thing on the geocaching.com forums. I'm really not sure how I ended up here - it was too long ago and I don't have enough remaining brain cells to remember..........

Forum member at Trailvoy.com

I was on the search for a srf file for my nuvi of a trailblazer. another member replied to my post directing me here to the post with all the srf files in it. While there was not a trailblazer i did find many cool poi files, the redlight camera poi file was what pushed me over the edge enough to join in on the forums

Great Site

I was searching online for a new GPS,I found this site. I had never heard of POI's that you could install to your device!! Much Knowledge here..Awesome site I come here often!!!!!

.

I was cruising hot babes on the 'net and I saw Miss POI's pic, hit the site and bought a GPS soon after in hopes she would notice my pimped rig. Alas, she's hooked to JM and my dream was trashed. But now in love with my rig...a happy ending!

That's my story, sad but true.

I was doing a google search for Custom POI and found POI factory. It's the best!

What is POI

As I remember I saw POI mentioned on the Garmin site and then used Google to learn more and found the POI Factory. I have certainly learned a lot since then. The highlights have been the red light camera data and ability to change voice responses.

I

don't rememeber.

POI-Factory

Hi,

I actually found this site while searching for POI's. Although I've only been here a short period of time, I can see this site is loaded with an abundance of GPS information.

So far POI-Factory seems to be a warm and friendly site made up of a great group of people. I find that refreshing, given all the other sites I've been on that seem to have lost that personal touch.

I'm glad I found POI-Factory and I hope to be a Member, User, Contributor for a long time.

I was searching..

For a list of light houses (1 year and 21 weeks ago, apparently, based on my account information)

I can say that I did not use the site that rhyme's with oogle, but that's another story. wink

My (now, 9 year old) has been into light houses, pirates, ships, treasure or any combination thereof since he could articulate any of them. I wanted to find a couple along the lake and let him see them close up.

That's why, back in October, when I drove around the lake with a friend / co-worker, I had to stop at a few to take pictures.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled forum - already in progress . . .

garmin.com

I got here through garmin.com close to a year ago. I like the HUGE community involvement and interaction.

I love knowing that many of the POIs are contributed by everyone's favorites (as in mom and pop POIs), and real world knowledge (as in red lights, new/closed businesses).

The tidbits and troubleshooting are also fantastic.

I know I will keep learning and contributing here.

Google

I googled for POI files and wound up here.

From Garmin.com, too

I also got from Garmin.com link.

After receiving a Nuvi 660

After receiving a Nuvi 660 for X-Mas, I decided to do a Google search for poi's. I checked out several sites but once I got here, there was no need to go any further!

How I found the POI factory

By accident. I was using my Nuvi750 with the Ver4.00 update. When it told me to turn left on 1st St I was already past the intersection. So I went to the nest intersection and turned left. And WOW there it was on my right, "Kip Youngs POI Factory". I was so overjoyed I almost cried. There it was my very first POI Factory. Their specialty was one finger POI, although they do sell some two finger POI.

I am glad to see you all must feel the same as I did when you found the POI Factory. It certainly was a great day in my life. As I see it was in yours.

God Bless You ALL!!!

Guess that says it all. But why stop just because I said it already......

I continue to explore other websites, and some are quite interesting technically. In fact, so highly technical that I become lost. Right here at POIFactory I find a nice balance of explanation and information, and a real sense of community. My skills are a work in progress, for sure. I'm never going to be the "guru" of GPS like many at the factory are....but I am one of the many foot soldiers who can applaud accomplishments.
