RECALCULATING and confused

my Nuvi760 at times gets confused and does alot of recalculating ( no idea why )
i set it on the usual route to work and i get to an intersection and it says recalculating turn on circlewood , recalculating and then finds its correct way.
the mystery is "circlewood" there is no such street anywhere in the area. Is this by chance a name Garmin came up with just in case there is a loss of direction and instead of saying go on road it will say circlewood ?
maybe someone else has the same happen to them

Circlewood

That's a strange one for sure. First time I've heard of that happening. Are you sure the map is showing your area?

Recalculating

I've seen this happen on my c530 when the road has been relocated, but the map still has the old position. My unit will sometimes recalculate 3 times in a 1000 ft and always on the same stretch of relocated road.

Ditto... when a new stretch

Ditto... when a new stretch of highway is built parallel to the old, my 7200 tells me to turn on no-longer existing roads to get back on the "highlighted route".

No Problem with Garmin

Call them and instead of taking responsibility they will most likely tell you that it's a map problem. Last time I looked my 750 said Garmin on the case. JMHO.

660 Freeze recalc

I have had that happen on the 660. Most of the time just shut it off and it reboots ok. No reason why and locations have never been in the same location

Same issue. It turned out I

Same issue. It turned out I had the unit set to predestrian instead of automobile.

Maybe they tell you that because it's TRUE ?? surprised

They, in fact, have no direct control over the maps.
And they don't like to act as "middle man" for you to report map problems because YOU can do that yourself. (Look around here. That information appears in several threads, I think.)

Things don't always work the way you think they should! mrgreen

I believe that NONE of the companies selling consumer GPSr's try to take responsibility for the maps.

Influence

The GPS companies may have no direct control over the maps. But I believe they are major customers of the map companies.

When I was in business we listened to the customer. I bought my GPS from Garmin, etc. and not from some map company. I expect Garmin, etc. to make their product better and right.

circlewood

This may seem overly simple, but just hit "Stop" and reselect your destination.
