Help with Garmin 760

Hello. Need a little help if I can. Have a 760 and had 2.9. For some reason, it froze. Someone said to try to reboot, which I think I did. Now, Webupdater doesn't seem to work on it. When I hook up the 760 to the computer with USB, the line doesn't go across the screen of the 760. Any words of wisdom?

Thanks in advance.

First things first

How did you reboot?
Did you start it up after reboot to the display screen?

In other words, does it start up for normal operation? If not, you still may have a problem with the unit.

I was told to hold the

I was told to hold the bottom left hand corner while you turn it on. I had to reset everything. Then, I checked for firmware and it said 2.9. It starts up normally when I restarted it.

I am learning.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. Any ideas from here?

Here are the instructions for resetting a frozen unit

If the Nuvi screen stops functioning, turn the nuvi off and on again. If this does not help, slide the power key to the left and hold for 8 seconds. Turn the nuvi back on and it should function properly.

I should have provided this first.

It should be seen

If your unit is starting up normally, it should be seen by windows when you plug in the USB cable. Make sure the connections are good. If all else fails, try cleaning out your cookies and temporary internet files and then restarting your PC.

Thanks. Yes, the screen

Thanks. Yes, the screen functions fine when on. I turn it off, hook it up to the comuter, and the line doesn't go across the screen of the 760, so it doesn't recognize Webupdater, I guess. Trying to see what to do from hear. Stumped

Then, lost the updates to MSN Direct. Trying to see if I can get those back too. When I hook it up to the computer, the line always went across the 760 before I could do anything.

Also

Make sure you don't have the screen locked.

That was due to the Hard Reset

You performed a hard reset and lost all "user installed" data. An unfortunate side affect of this type of reset. Once you get the unit to show itself again, you should be able to get all of that back.

How do I get it to show

How do I get it to show itself again. Sorry for all the crazy questions. The Webupdater recognizes it, but the 760 isn't showing itself. Thanks for your help and patience

If it is being seen by webupdater, you should be able to see as a drive under "my computer" also. If not, I would recommend you restart the PC and see if that fixes the problem.

Guess it needed some good

Guess it needed some good rest. Woke up this morning, plugged it in, and it works. My missing MSN icons are back, too.

Interesting, but if anything strange can happen, it will happen to me.

Again, thanks for your help and support
