Entering Certain Roads into Garmin C530

I have a new Garmin C530 GPS. I have found one issue with it and wonder if anyone can clarify it for me. I live is Ohio and many of the roads in the southern part of the state are named just by their state route number. So when I leave my area of the state to drive south and want to program where I drive I can't get door to door directions. Example: my destination may be like this: 1234 State Route 821. Hicktown, Ohio. The garmin does not let me enter the address as a state route. Does anyone know how to do this?? This would help because much of my travel is to these locations.DC

Geocode the address...

You could use the Quick geocoder at http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert?form=address and get the approximate coordinates for the address and enter those as your destination...or experiment a bit with abbreviations - you may find that 'state route' has an odd abbreviation...and it may also be possible that the 'state route' has another designation that is in the C530's database - like a street 1 block north of me is known as 'State Highway 106', '4TH AVE S', and '255th St'. The first is obsolete, the second is what it is in town, and the 3rd the county's designation, which is also known as 'Cr-B-35' - all that for one street/road -

State Routes

Have you, or has anyone else come up with the answer to this (apart from Geocoding)? These roads must be in there somewhere, somehow. They appear on the map, so there has to be a textual entry for them. I have found some numbered Highways in there as HWY whatever, and Interstates like I87. Also, is there a way to enter an exit number from some interstate? TIA

Just figured it out. For State Route 32, when it says Enter Street name, just type 32.

Found this out a long time ago...

If you know of a road with the same designation... browse the map and see how it's printed on the screen. For example in Tx there are a lot of County Roads or CR ## I tried the cr ## or just the ## Caps, lower case any variation I could think of etc. Then while browsing the map came across a CR▬##
I tried searching for address using CR▬## and the rest is history. All because of a Hyphen

Then again, on the FM (farm to market) roads it will show up using either FM ## or just the ##
