New Poi Verifier

New Poi Verifier v1.0.1.3 at POI Verifier.

Changes from v1.0.1.2 to v1.0.1.3:
1. Some POIs have been uploaded with the nüvi 350/360 compatible linebreaks (i.e.
). These linebreaks do not display correctly on other GPS units. There is now an option to convert all
linebreaks to the standard linebreaks.

2. Although Garmin's format for csv POI files is longitude first column, latitude second column, some GPS units require latitude first. Also, a few POIs have been uploaded with latitude in the first column. To help with these issues, the second option added will swap the longitude and latitude columns.
Anyone with v1.0.1.2 can install this version with no additional registration number. Just uninstall the old version before installing the new version.

Any problems, please email me.
EDITED 11/28/2007
VISTA USERS: Just discovered that when uninstalling the old version, the old serial number and registration number is also removed. If you have this problem when uninstalling v1.0.1.2, just email me your new serial number and I'll give you a new registration number.

RT, Thanks for making these

RT,
Thanks for making these changes, it is wonderful that you see a need and then make it happen.

Logging on

For some reason I always have problems logging on to this site. Even though I shout the phishing filter off and added to my trusted sites. It still only loads half way.

Couple possibilities

Is it the home page that won't load, or the program download?

Couple of things to try. Make sure your firewall is shut off, and make sure your 'Privacy' is set to low. (Return them to the original settings when through.)

Some computers (especially public ones, like library computers) are set to not allow 'URL Forwarding'. This site is set up with URL forwarding. Send me a email and I'll send you the direct link to the site.

Thank you.

Verified 2 files I modified last night to reduce memory requirements. Gee Ma - no mistakes !!!!!!!!

Getting ready for our 5500 mile, 13 state, trip next month - making sure all our restaurant, Gas Travel Centers, special addresses and PIT STOP files are correct !

What a great tool you have developed and IMPROVED !

The home page won't load. I use my laptop at home. I tried to lower the Privacy to allow all!! Which is even lower than low. I added the site to my trusted sites, I also shut down the phishing filter. Nothing works, but I have the new file off the other site you sent me in a email the last time we went through this. Just to also let you know I use your program a lot because it catches things I can't even see. Thanks.

Send me your email address again

If I remember correctly, the problem was the 'URL Forwarding'. If you can send me your email address again, I'll send you the new version.

Sorry for the problem.

POI Verifier

POI Verifier does not delete the "duplicates" - it just informs you that a potential conflict was found and gives you the info !

Yeah, I see that now. Why

Yeah, I see that now. Why does it save two new versions? I see too additional POIs, one with _M and the other with _V appended to the original name. Which one do I keep?

Also, I keep getting a tone and error message on every POI I verify, but it looks like it's still saving them.

Check the website

The website explains this. The *_M.csv is created if you check the option to change standard linebreaks to nüvi 350/360 requirement. The *_V.csv is a verified version of the original file; the original is never changed. The verified file is only good if no errors are specified, other than 'Possible duplicates'. These the user has to check. If no other errors are displayed, the _V.csv is the one to upload unless you want nüvi 350/360 linebreaks.

I'd appreciate it if anyone having questions on POI Verifier would please contact me via my contact link. I don't want to turn this fantastic site into a forum for POI Verifier. Thanks.

Perhaps others can learn

Perhaps others can learn from others' questions. Do you really want to be bombarded with the same questions over and over?

And we do NOT have to turn this site into a POI verifier site. Just have ONE "all things and every thing POI verifier". Just post a bump in it every now and then if no one has questions to keep it in the forefront. Or ask Miss POI to create another discussion forum for it.

Question for RT's POI verifier

I'm running it now on my massive combined food custom POI. I'm noticing it spitting out duplicate lat/longs, but for different restaurants. Is it going to automatically delete the duplicate lat/longs? I don't want it to because they are in fact two different places. For example, it says a Denny's and a Cracker Barrel may be duplicates. They're probably not as they may be right next to each other just off the highway.

duplicates not deleted

As MrKenFL stated above, it does not remove any 'possible duplicates', you have to manually delete them ... exactly for that reason. The original file is not modified, it remains as the original file.

You can reduce the number of 'possible duplicates' displayed by changing the Variance. It's adjustable from .0000 to .0009.

Incidentally, you can put the mouse pointer on an option for a few seconds to display more info about that option.

Added ...

v1.0.1.4
I added an option for those who have a display problem when the character count in field 3 of the Custom POI is odd (nüvi 2xx series and others). As usual, if you have registered v1.0.1.2 and/or v1.0.1.3 and this installation requires another registration number, just email me via my contact link and I'll give you another registration number.

Thanks.
