AAA Tour Book Update for Magellan 4040

I just received an e-mail from the south east regional office of AAA. They are sending me an update of their Tour Book section on the Magellan 4040. They state they will have loading instructions for me to follow. It has only been two months since I first contacted them so they have really moved out on my request from no plans for an update to this. Will see what happens and I will make it available (if it works) to anyone interested.

What is the filename of version 7?

Anyways, version 6 had a problem installing. It kept saying "no maestro series found" when it tries to update.

I have the newest firmware from last month.

What model of Maestro do you have?

When connected via USB, does it go into "update" mode.....and does it show up as a "drive" on your host computer? (That is, when you are NOT trying to do an update).

If not, you need to figure that out first.

I have a 4250. Yes, it shows up as drive name TFAT. It has it's system files there.

Is it possible to extract the files from the update and just put them in?

No, I wouldn't try that.

My only guess is: Run the file and follow the instructions. Part of that is to NOT plug in the USB to the Maestro until the instructions tell you to. Apparently sequence is important.

Also, every update I have ever done with a Maestro ends up telling you it is done and to remove the cable; that results in a complaint from Windows that a delayed write has failed. I've never had a problem that I know of because of that, however.

Oh, I've updated the firmware 3 times already on the unit so I'm familiar with the process.

I've just downloaded the ver 7 update of AAA and it worked fine. The ver 6 just did not work even after a few times.

Anyways, it says ver 7 for the update on the gps unit.
