Got the file, finally. Their site is a little "quirky". How do you know if the file available for download there is "NEW" or not ???

You can check AAA TB version from "User Options" > "Map Information". Mine was 21 before update, now it is 4.1.0.2.

Fine, but still same question.

Since the numbers are vastly different, how did/do you know that 4.1.0.2 is really an update?

I saw nothng at the site indicating it is an update.....but they ARE pretty good at hiding things.

If you open the AAA_TB_POI.poi file in text editor, newer one has IMG_DATE=11/01/2007 and older one has IMG_DATE = 02/02/07

OK, let me back up and say "Thank you for the information!". It appears that I would not have known it any other way.

Looks like AAA is as bad as Magellan. One should NOT have to go to those lengths to find out something that they should have told us up front.

I sent them an email complaint and they promised to have an issue date added to the web site in a week or so. I'm not holding my breath!

Have you actually installed the file yet? How did that go? Seems like a HUGE download.

Updated Tourbook

Yeah. I installed it in my gps. One update I noticed instantly was the AAA Tourbook events - it has now got some new events near my area. I won't criticize AAA - for me their support have always been magnificent. They even sent me a CD because I had a problem downloading the file.

Yep, my experience too. I guess my comment was not really justified but it mistifies me how things that should be "obvious to an untrained 3 year old" are missed by so-called profesionals.

At least they recognized the dumb mistake and promised to fix it in a timely manner. That is LOT more than you get most places these days.

AAA Updates

I went to the link www.aaa.com/gps that you said the updates are but did not see anywhere to download them, only talk about downloading them. Also, once downloaded how do I get them into the Magellan NAV?

Look again. It's kinda like a puzzle.
IIRC, you need to click of an underlined word which is really a link. Save the file to run later.

What you get is an .exe file. It is large and the transfer is slow.

You connect GPS to computer, be sure they "see" each other and then run the .exe file. Follow the instructions.
