Ok, I'm a newbie. Got my Nuvi 350 and want to put some POI on it.
I see the POI comes in two files: 1.A csv file and 2. a mp3 file for sound.
I set up two folders on my pc and downloaded the files I think I want.
I would like to load them on the SD card and run them from the SD card on the Nuvi 350.
1. Is this possible?
2. What steps do I need to jump through to get this accomplished?
I downloaded the POI loader and since I didn't have any POI I thought it was alright to run it.
Any suggestions? Help even?
Thanks
1) Yes, it is possible2)
1) Yes, it is possible
2) there are tons of threads that will help you upload the POI files to the Nuvi. Look at the FAQ.

POI files on an SD card
To me it doesn't make a lot of sense to put POI files on the SD card, anytime you change cards you lose the files. If you are worried about not having enough space on the unit's hard drive, delete the unnecessary files. (ie. Do you really need the help files in Polish, etc.?, and the voice files in other languages that you know you will never use.) That should leave plenty of room for the POI files. You can save the SD card slot for: Other Maps, Music, Audio books, Pictures,etc.

I understand what you say and in part I agree with you.
But what if you have 2 Nuvi's and you just want to have a card you can switch from one to the other? I may load them in memory later... Remember, I am a newbie to these contraptions.
I am a bit concerned with space simply because of not having worked with these things and knowing what kind of space hog these files are. To me, SD is a cheap way to store mucho stuff...
And, thanks to this forum, I got it to work today. Cool.
There's plenty of room
The is more than enough room for PIO files on the nuvi 350. I have 100,000+ points pluse 4 albums of music on my unit.

faster access??
I thought someone said it's accessed faster from internal than from the external SD card.
Or was that just maps are loaded faster?

Yes, they seem to be faster
Yes, they seem to be faster on the internal memory.
To make more room, delete all vehicles (that you dont use), all voices (that you don't use) that will make ton of rooms

POI files on SD card
Point taken xnman, however the room POI files take is very little. Besides transferring cards is more of a PITA than loading the POIs on both units. Making room is easy, as others have said there are jpg files you don't need, Help files, Voice files, MP3 files. Go thru your unit and delete everything you know you won't use.(I always try to create backups, just in case). Also with two units you may have different POI needs depending on the vehicle.
Backup
Before deleting anything from your GPS, back it up to your computer ... you just may want it again.

100,000+ POI
firenutts,
I have added all kinds of poi csv files and I wind up with only 25,000 poi.
How in the world do you get 100,00+ poi? You must loaded everything including the kitchen sink.

The "D" in DH may stand for many things.
But the "D" in DW always stands for "Dear" or "Darling".

What is a DW?
Sorry asianfire, didn't see your question until today...
In the world of camping trailers... a bunch of them got together and decided they wanted to set themselves apart from other people. Of course one way to do that is to develop a language that is peculiar only to that specific bunch of nuts, oops, I mean people.
So they did just that.
According to the world of camping trailer people...
DW = Dear wife
DH = Dear husband
tt = travel trailer
5er or 5ver = 5th wheel
kp = king pin (hitch pin on a 5ver)
tv = tow vehicle
And there are others. But that will get you started.
Now here's the best part. You oughta go to one of the jamborees where these campers meet and just sit around and listen to em talk. I've done it and I can tell you for sure they get the camp trailer language and the American English language so intertwined and so convoluted that I am not sure that even themselves know what they are saying.
Aaah... human beings! They are the most fun to watch!

Ms. MM, will you cut him a slack? That Asianfire is burning too hot. He became slightly disoriented.
