Garmin has the new map update for City Navigator North America available, version 2026.30.
Map Details
When I go under map details, the Europe maps are the only ones that show up, on any computer I use.
Sounds like Garmin Express was set to install the update to the computer only when you ran the update.
Use Garmin Express. Connect your GPS to the computer, select "Map Details" then City Navigator North America 2026.30 "Map Options". Now scroll down and select "Install to Computer". When you first install a map update you have to select the option to install to both the device and the computer, or it will only install to the GPS.
Thanks!
Will update soon.

CORRECTION - I should have said that it sounds like GE was set to the GPS only. I should have caught the error sooner.
If you were asking about the hard drive on your computer - when you first install a map update you can select the option to see details about the update. From that page you can choose to install the update to the GPS only, the computer only, or the GPS and the computer. If you just accept the update without making a selection in this area, then it will install on only the GPS. You can still try installing the update on your computer. Use Garmin Express. Connect your GPS to the computer, select "Map Details" then City Navigator North America 2026.30 "Map Options". Now scroll down and select "Install to Computer". When it is done the file should be in the C:ProgramData>Garmin>Maps folder (on a Windows computer).
If you were asking about the hard drive in your GPS - then having an empty download folder in your GPS is normal. If your Drive 53 works like my RV 890 then you'll likely find the update in the Garmin>Map folder as a Disc Image file dated when you installed the map update.

CN NA 2026.30 doesn't show up in express as an available map to install to the computer on any computer I try it on. All that shows up is the 2025.10 NT Europe maps. 2026.30 doesn't show up at all in express for my 1370T.

Sorry, but my entry was in response to the comment posted by johnnatash4 concerning his Drive 53.
I ran a search on Google and here are the main points from the AI Overview - "Garmin has discontinued map updates for older devices like the 1370T" "You will no longer receive new maps through Garmin's official channels like Garmin Express." However, I couldn't find anything on a Garmin page to confirm this.
The best suggestion I could make for you is to call Garmin support. They are very helpful and not concerned about how old your device may be. If a tech isn't available, the system will likely ask if you would like a call back and give an estimate of how long it will be. The estimate is usually accurate. A whole lot better than their support using email.
Their USA numbers are 800-800-1020, 913-397-8200. If nothing else, they should be able to confirm if they have discontinued map update support through Garmin Express.
Meanwhile, in case they did not discontinue support.
A new version of Garmin Express was released last week. You might try updating it if you haven't already. Its a long shot, but who knows, and its something that Garmin support is likely to ask about.
Another thing to check before speaking with Garmin support is does the 1370T still list the older North America map in the settings. Also, did you install the last North America map (2026.20) on your computer, and if you did, is the file still in the C:ProgramData>Garmin>Maps folder?
Your 1370T may not have enough room for both Europe and North America maps. I would try adding a flash card to increase the storage space. It may not help, but couldn't hurt.
You posted that you have the Europe Maps version 2025.10, and last updated the North America maps to 2026.20. The latest Europe map update was 2026.30 released on October 15. Did you try updating the Europe maps? If you can update the Europe maps maybe it will sort out some kind of conflict. If you can't update the Europe maps then its an additional issue to tell Garmin support.

Thanks
Thank you for letting us know about the update.
nice
thanks!

The last NT Europe map version is 2025.10 and the 1370 doesn't support NTU maps so it cannot update the Europe maps anymore. I will contact Garmin support and post an update here after I have done that. The unit does list the old map in the settings and I did not install the map to my computer. BaseCamp does read and recognize the NA map on the 1370's microSD card when I plug it in to my computer as well.
Thanks

Final Update on my nüvi 1370T
I contacted Garmin on X, and they basically said that all map updates for my 1370T were terminated "because the device has reached the end of its useful life". Yeah right, I don't think it has if all of my 13xx and 14xx nuvis, along with my 1100 and 1200, and even a nuvi 750 (not 1, but all 3 of mine) can get the 2026.30 Map update I don't think it has reached the end of its useful life. Oh well, sat103 OSM maps it is. One less unit to have to deal with Express for updates.
Thanks for the info. Going

Large CV
Thanks HarryAR for the Large JCV file.
I appreciate it.
SD Card
I needed to replace the 2GB SD card in my Garmin, as it was no longer big enough to hold the new maps. Fortunately, I had an old 4GB card available that solved the problem.
MapInstall?
@EV Driver: Every single device I have that requires a MicroSD card for added storage space needed at least an 8GB card in Garmin Express or else the process could not continue. Did you manually apply the update using MapInstall?
This does bring up an interesting point. Garmin Express is actually stupid when applying map updates. If it detects a SD or MicroSD card inserted into the GPS it dumps the entire map onto the card and ignores the internal storage entirely. I'd have to double check but I don't even think the JCV file is found on the internal storage, which is an ideal place for it if the maps themselves are solely on the card.

thank you
updating now.
.
I finally got around to updating my DS61 and once complete I checked the unit for the version and found something odd.
I found everything updated to the new 2026.30 but I also have
CN North America NT 2026.2 & 2026.3 Parkopedia and Foursquare.
I don't recall having those two items for both the current and prior update before still on the unit.

The first post was Nov. 5, 2025, the day the update was release in North America. Posts after are from folks saying the got the update or had questions about the update, isn't that one of the reasons for this forum?

Pardon my ignorance, but would this work on the Nuvi 1450LMT? Not sure if it would be considered a full screen model.

Yes, I believe the nuvi 14xx series was a full screen JCV model, so the large JCV file should work with it as long as its version matches your map version.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction and the great write up!
Much appreciated.
Do you happen to know why Garmin still installs the gmappupdate.gsd file (on the Storage Card in my case)?
Always thought this was supposed to point to the small JCV directory on the device when installing the map on a Storage Card.
But, they no longer include even the small JCV files on map updates for older devices like the 1450.
So not sure what its for anymore.
Thanks
