Regarding the fiasco with the latest Map Update not working until I used MAPINSTALL.. and then not displaying Road Names correctly:
Neds Cove Road becomees: N... C... R.
I see that for the last two Map Updates (I cycle between two SD Cards)
The road names have displayed this way.... N... C... R.
Unless I had both the MAPS (internal dated 2013, the last one that would fully load on 660 internally, even with all un-necessary files removed) enabled as well as the Most recent... only with both enabled did I see correct street names... which of course loaded old maps!
IF I disable the 2013 map, the last Map off SD card also displayed:
N... C... R. for Neds Cove Road!
The last map update would not allow selection of NA quadrants... had to download to Computer then MAPINSTALL to SD Card!
So.... 660 is now retired!

I don't think we should be using MapInstall anymore.
From memory, I think the 660 has special requirements when doing a map update.

I had never tried Mapinstall
I had never tried Mapinstall before, but did so because GE (as of this last Map... does not support Map Quadrants (at least here)).... and street names from updates, are truncated to UN-useability.... I seem to be at an impasse...
We still have our 2689LMT units, So if nothing comes from next update.... I guess the 660 is toast.... It's been without Traffic receiver for years anyway (rear access port stopped working, been powering off USB port for years....
A 2689LMT in both our cars that we love... and a Nuvi 660 with Lifetime Maps that we have had literally forever.... And a 2011 Ford Escape with Nav System that is totally ignored!
