Garmin Drive Custom POI & Sounds

Using the format for creating custom poi on this site under the topic "Garmin CSV File Format" did not work for me. Those instructions showed the name info to be in quotes, but that resulted in garbage names on my Garmin Drive 52 when loaded. When I looked at other custom poi files I had downloaded from this website, I noted that their location names were not in quotes, so I tested without csv text in quotes for my own custom poi files and that worked.

I want to add custom wav files for some alerts. The FAQ "How To Add Sound File To Red Light Camera?" says to include sox.exe program in POI Loader.exe folder. When I downloaded latest sox version. the file name includes the sox version number (sox-14.4.2-win32.exe). Do I need to rename to sox.exe or will the POI Loader program work with the full sox file name?

sox.exe 14.0.1

Only use version 14.0.1
Newer versions do not work.
Delete the latest version that was placed in the POI Loader folder in Windows.

The filename should only be sox.exe

Here are more specific instructions:

Your first issue: The only time you need to use quotes in a .csv record is if there are imbedded commas in a field.

For issue two: sox.exe is what you need at version 14.0.1. It's 1672 kb.

Download from the POI Factory

You can download the correct sox file by clicking the link in Step B:

We have a very lengthy thread archived somewhere here on the problems with the newer versions of sox. It was a very lengthy process to confirm that newer sox versions failed to work with Garmin's POI Loader and eventually, one very capable user here identified why newer versions failed.
