GPI for two nuvi

I have preferred routes, settings and custom POI in my nuvi 2689, I am wondering if I can copy the *.gpi file to to my nuvi 50, so I would have identical information on both units.

Yes, that should work.

I have copied some fairly complex .gpi files between devices in the past and they all worked without issue. There is certainly no harm in trying it. Just be aware that copying the .gpi file is a way to move your custom POI's from device to device, but it will not move routes, saved places/favorites, track log, etc.

Yep

I do this all the time between devices, no problem at all. For routes, waypoints etc just copy the current.gpx from the GPX folder of one device to the other or use BaseCamp to do it, having deleted all your data from the other device or you'll get duplicates.

Note if you decide to manually copy current.gpx you need to rename it, something like temp.gpx will do. Once you've rebooted that device and are happy it has all the data delete temp.gpx

For POI files you just copy them across.
