Publix POI File No Longer Offers Go Function For Me

I recently upgraded to a newer Garmin Nuvi from one I had bought over 10 years ago. All my custom POI files from this site loaded into it no problem. However, the Publix file no longer offers the "Go" green button screen anymore when I punch in an individual Publix location. This appears to be the only file that this is happening to. Do any of you tech heads here know why this is happening now.

is there a number in the POI filename?

Is there a number in the POI filename?

Numerals

It's almost certainly a numeral in the file name. See:

http://www.poi-factory.com/garmin/problemsolver#go-button

The fix is to remove the numeral. The files for Publix available here at The Factory do not have numerals in the filename so I'll guess that you already had the Publix file stored on your computer in the past, and when downloading it again recently, Windows changed it from

Publix Stores.csv

to

Publix Stores(1).csv

Check for this first.

Thanks

I'm on a Mac and as far as I know the file name was not changed in anyway, but I'll double check.
Thanks for the info.

mac

With a Mac, POI Loader will vacuum up POI files from unwanted folders, even the trash. So, if any files with numbers in the filenames exist anywhere on the Mac, they will be loaded.

A number in the filename tells POI Loader that it is a speed camera file, so there is no "Go" button.

Number in file

I downloaded the Publix file http://www.poi-factory.com/node/2278 and the GO tab is there. You need to go back and check the file name you are using. Run Poiloader and select remove all Poi's and then run poiloader again to install.

Make sure on the Mac you empty the trash can or recycle bin before you install the files again.

Thanks Again Everyone

Thanks again everyone. Yes, indeed there was a number in the file. The number was there from the original file and for some reason it was never an issue with my old Nuvi, but when I upgraded to the new one and the new software and maps it was an issue. I changed the file name and now I'm good to go.

Much thanks as I travel all over the state of Florida and frequently stay out of town for two to three days at a time or more. The Publix hot case deli is a life saver for eating fairly healthy food with quick, reheat prep when you're on the road. Saves me a lot of money as opposed to eating out all the time too.

Great news

That's great to hear.

I've never heard of any automotive Garmin devices that kept the "Go" with a numeralled filename. Could you share with us what the older model was? I think more folks here than just me would be interested in the answer.

My parents (retired to FL from Wisconsin) loved Publix as do you. They mentioned to me something like a pressed Cuban sandwich that they loved.

Older Nuvi

Craig W--The older model is a Nuvi 855. It is one of the older models that also had voice recognition with a litlle touch control button. I don't believe too many of those types of Nuvis were made, but it was quite handy as you could talk to it in a series of steps instead of having to touch the screen.

Well, Golly

I just happen to have an 855 too. I'll have to tinker with it sometime. Live and learn.
