You Don't Suppose Garmin Closed Up Shop?

I'm sitting here drumming my fingertips on my desk impatiently awaiting the new Garmin 2020.20 map update release. Almost six months have passed since the last map release.

Nothing unusual ...

Based on jgermann's FAQ, here is the schedule from the 2019 map version releases. Seems like Garmin is on about the same schedule for the 2020 maps

Quote:

2019.10 - Jan 24, 2018 (Wed) => 105
2019.20 - Jun 20, 2018 (Wed) => 147
2019.30 - Nov 07, 2018 (Wed) => 140

2020.10 - Jan 30, 2019 (Wed) => 84

june

about the 26 sounds about right, but it still wont be up to date so much construction going on right now new streets being created, new restaurants being built in this area, senior homes popping up duplexes it seems like constant construction going on !

that's right. In our city in QC, it's impossible to follow up their changes for construction and speed limit. new car adopts new tool to capture the speed limit to show on car screen display. yeah, today new map still not available yet

I'm guessing this week

I'm guessing this week the new map will be released.

Well?

Are we there yet?

Taking forever Garmin!

Looks Like 147 days is not enough!

I give up! I though Garmin could and would release an update in 147 days or less. If Garmin continues to follow a Wednesday release pattern, it now looks like this update is going to take 154 days or longer!

YES

Another week!

Garmin's longest map release interval ever

At 148 days, this is now the longest map release interval in Garmin's history.

Well

We'll not really "in Garmin's history". When I bought my first Nuvi in 2005 we got ONE map update a year at best.

I do believe Garmin has reverted back to that policy.

well

I would not be surprised when they drop down to once a year.

I wish I could see Garmin's stats on how many units are updated more than once a year.

What would really be interesting is seeing how many serial numbers NEVER get registered or updated.

Thanks for the correction.

Thanks for the correction. Okay, longest release interval since at least 2009.

it will be out in

15 minutes

Well not the 26th

Maybe the 3rd of July just in time for the fireworks. I don't really need it until mid-August.

I wonder RE: CN NA 2020.20 Garmin map update

if anyone from Garmin is monitoring this forum and this subject? Do any POI-Factory users work at, or know anyone who works at Garmin? If so, might they care to make a statement about the outlook for map updates? Maybe too much to hope for, but can't hurt to ask... inquiring minds here would sure like to know!

This week? Canada Day & 4th of July?

mcginkleschmidt wrote:

Well maybe.

153 days so far

153 days and counting. Previous longest map release interval since at least 2009 was 147 days. Average interval since then has been around 100 days.

For the 2nd time in the last few months, my Garmin just dumped me in an area of Seattle that was recently redone, with roads in completely different places than Garmin thinks there are roads.

More and more are going to the smartphone and either Google Maps or Wazes. Sad how they're killing themselves. To not have a release at the beginning of summer and travel season is insane.
