CN NA 2020.20

Another trip coming up soon. New maps are always appreciated.

I intended to soon begin the CN NA 2020.20 thread if nobody else did but you so ably volunteered to do the dastardly deed.

2019.20 is what I currently have on my two Garmins, so I completely missed out on 2019.30... finally getting around to the 2020.10 update tonight. The recent trend is for an update to come out in May or June, so that's my guess.

Hope it comes out before our next trip planned from VA to OR and back.

And here I got all excited thinking 2020.20 was out. Still on 2019.20. Do my upgrades once a year. Too much of a hassle to do multiple units/pc's any more than that.

Holy Cow. You got me. 2 days ago I finally upgraded the maps on both of my old 760s. Then I see this subject and (foolishly) think I need to do it all over again. I should have known better. I predict somewhere on page 7 the map will be released.

I say page 5. any advance on page 5

This week would be nice but certainly by Memorial Day I would hope.

I think they are going over to 3 updates a year. One towards the first of the year, one in the middle, and the other towards the end. I could see February, June, and November. (But, of course, I could be wrong.)

I hope it comes out before July as i won't be able to update it 'til next year.

Maybe it'll coincide with tv's sweeps months... February, May, and November. Or, maybe like maddog67, I could be wrong.

Given Garmin's daft version numbering system.. I doubt it will be version 20.20.xx A rational version numbering system would be the year.month.day.xx

I think it will be here before we realize it !

I guess it's time to update my 2019.20 map sometime.

Not expecting maps until mid-Summer.

I would expect Garmin to release the Europe 2020.10 NTU map before it releases the next North America map.

it makes no difference to me when they do or do not update the maps, i am sure some streets will change or be updated, but between google maps and waze, not having the newest map in my garmin is the least of my worrys.

not before June I think Garmin is going to do map updates twice a year to save money, most of the main roads don't change in the states in a year, and local roads pretty much stay the same but they could change the POI files more often.

And we inch one post closer to page 2.

But I did just now take 2020.10 while I was in there.

Well I have never been wrong yet on guessing the correct day of the update.

Well maybe a few times. Wasn't my fault I guessed the right date but they changed the release date.

I know I have this one 2020.20 will be released on the day it is released and not a day before.

That has a nice ring to it.

Since the last map, I've upgraded to 300mbps symmetrical fiber.

Please explain your experiences with out-dated maps and how that affected your travels.

...Red River Gorge in Kentucky a few years back. The GPS took me down a road that had been closed about two years prior. Had to turn around and drive about 10 miles to get out of the area. The funny thing was that I could walk from Point A to Point B. The only reason the road was closed was due to a washed out bridge that had not been replaced.

Exactly when was 2020.10 released?

It might be a while before the new maps are out. Here implemented a new feature that would gather the speed limits. Doing so messed up the mapping system to the point that everything was showing 25 mph even on interstates. The only thing that I can tell you is that if they have a backup to the maps, they are not using them because I have been putting in speed limits ever since this happened. Be patient, we will get it done. I have asked for a selection on Here Map Creator that will allow us to put in the speed limits but I doubt this goes through. Just FYI.
