Yay!

Always love new maps!

Thanks for the heads up

Thanks!

SLOW

On the 660, this is the first time a file smaller than “Lower 48” was
Necessary.
That downloaded to SD card relatively quickly.
I am downloading to one 2689 off W10, and another off W7. Both are at 1.5Mb/sec
This is the SLOWEST upgrade I’ve ever encountered.
Even a 660 running on internal memory at USB1 speeds was faster!

Huge update/ full view junction view

This is a huge update. I only have less than 20 MB left on my 3597 after updating.

Just wondering if the full junction view is now available for download from an alternate site?

Similiar experience

Same experience with my 2689 using Win 7 Pro. The download crashed the first attempt, then went very slow the 2nd attempt which seemed to go fine, but no new map was found on the device.

On 3rd attempt advised new map update would take 3 hours. I'll wait until early AM east coast time and give it another go.

Map Updater?

Has anyone yet tried MapUpdater instead of Express on 2019.30? I tried it with all of my devices just for the sake of curiosity. Since Garmin has removed all links for downloading Map Updater, I was wondering if it would still work for those who already have a copy of the program.

I was unsuccessful with all of my devices. I would get through the first part of the dialog, then would get the message that an updated map is available for purchase. I wonder if Map Updater is now permanently disabled by Garmin, or if after a few days they will enable it for 2019.30 as they have done with previous updates.

Incidentally all my devices updated to 2019.30 using Garmin Express 5.5.0.0 (on Windows Vista) without a problem.

See my different thread ..
One of my 2689's Updated Maps, but didn't Update FourSquare !!! Then GE said it had completed successfully!!! (It also said nothing to Update when I reconnected to GE after I discovered FourSquare had no data!!!)
A second Map install fixed it.... Whew!

Alan: Both W7 and w10 was abysmally slow on 2689's (The W7 one did my Wife's, both times...) Though the 660 via SD card and card-slot on the same W7 computer that then did the 2689 went far faster on 660/SD than SB & 2689!

From what I posted it's obvious that GE doesn't look at FourSquare, just Maps when it scans the GPS prior to reporting if Updates are needed, or not!!! sad!

Hmmm ...

GE has always updated my FourSquare 'map' when it's updated the CN map

Its early

but has anyone noticed what has changed on their map?

--
nuvi 1390 LT, nuvi 1450 LMT, Win 10

Updated all three units

The 3597 took about one hour at about 6 MB/s, the 3590 took 20 minutes at the same speed, and the 350 took one hour and 10 minutes at about 292 KB/s to download the NE US maps. (The 350 can't hold the entire US). Everything downloaded OK with no issues.

In my area...

...several rotaries, (or round-abouts), as some people call them, have been added to the 2019.30 maps. I have been waiting two years for this to happen. So; if these were added, I guessing that there are a few changes to the update.

--
With God, all things are possible. ——State motto of the Great State of Ohio

Is this normal?

In updating one of my 3597s, it reported that an SD card was needed. (The other 3597 fit the entire NA internally for what it's worth.)

I had always expected that when GE determines an SD is needed for a full update, that the map file would go to the SD card. What I found is that only the JCV file went to the SD and the map file stayed internal. I'm just curious to see how common this is as I don't think I ever read where Garmin puts things when an SD is needed for a full update.

And now a confession. I moved from AZ to WI about a month ago. Thank goodness for the GPS as it helped in the 1600+ mile drive but even more so, I'd be totally lost in Madison without it. Between all the one-way streets and being about 46 years since I last lived here, I don't know how I'd have survived without it. Now the Oops confession...in testing my backup 3597 with the new map today, I drove to get a haircut. Getting back in the car after the clipping, I told "Karen" I wanted to Go Home. The ETA seemed odd but I started following the route home. When I saw it not take an expected exit, I realized that it was taking me back to Arizona! redface

I call those "oops" Senior moment.

Good thing CraigW

that you were not in Europe like that stupid woman in Belgium going to visit a friend two hours away using a GPS. Three days and several countries as well as languages later she was somewhere in Serbia if I remember right.

Hope it works

So I loaded the US East and Canada on my 680 and then loaded the Western US on a 4gb sd card. Both show up on the maps section. Sure hope they both work. First time I tried splitting across SD and 680.

Updates done on two units

Updated Garmin Express to 6.9.1.0. As usual -- had to uncheck "Always keep Garmin Express running in the background" and "Automatically launch Garmin Express when a Garmin device is connected"

Map and TrafficProvider updated with no problems on 2455LMT and 2555LMT units. Took about 30 mins each unit using old Windows 7 system.

After update the 2555 had old SID, JCV and SQLite files from 2019.2 as well as new files from 2019.30. Went in and moved old files from 2019.20 to PC to save space. 2455LMT only had new files, no old leftovers. Last time it was the 2455LMT that had old files leftover. Oh well....

All appears to be working. Time to take a trip and see smile

Nothing new for me

The update went without a hitch ~ 35 min. It wanted to do a software update first that required shutting off my Garmin.. done automatically as part of the update... but "I" had to push the power button to turn it back on.

I can see nothing new in the Edmonton AB area.. and it still misses many "Streets ahead" in that top section of the screen. It skips over 2 ~ 3 major streets and will list a street several kilometers ahead. No new school zones.. which is a mixed blessing now that I have seen how they work. Garmin started with a few several updates ago..Not a feature worth having

Maybe in 17 weeks when the next update comes out something new will be added.. not likely.. but, ever the optimist.

Updated one of my DS61

Updated one of my DS61 units, no problem, and one of my 2460's but had to redo because of an unknown (to me) error on the first try. No idea how long they took as I set them to update and leave for a few hours doing other stuff.

2019.20

Yeah, mine showed the same but Garmin Express got 2019.30.

Does anyone with Garmin map updater show 2019.30? I like that better then GE

Also,

noticed that an existing road going into a subdivision that has been re-named was updated to the new name. I hadn't expected to see this name change for at least another year.

Oh well!

A new Costco store opened in Woodstock, Georgia in August and I had to use Google Earth coordinates to input it as a drive destination since the street address wasn't recognized. With the new map the Costco street address is still not functional. Oh well!

I live six months in Mexico and my home location does not get changed. I just create another favourite and call it "Mexico house". Easy Peasy, no conflicts.

Mcginkle, that's odd since a toll road just south of Guadalajara is already in the 2019.30 map. It was opened one year ago exactly. But I suppose August is a bit soon?

The new Costco location was carved from raw, undeveloped land that was covered in trees (Google Earth image 3/2017) so the street address didn't exist 18 months ago.
