Samsung email with icloud.com can't delete messages.

I'm scratching my head over this one. My fiancé changed over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S7 about 6 months ago but kept her icloud.com email address. Lately the Samsung email app and the gmail app can't delete messages off her icloud.com. If she uses the icloud.com off her PC it works. I checked the SSL setup of the Android port settings, etc. and it's the same as Apple recommends. It used to work and now it doesn't so maybe Apple changed something. I setup her icloud.com email on my S7 and the gmail app won't work on my phone either.

I've searched all over the web and don't see anything similar.
