Navteq Traffic Subscription Gone?

Has anyone else noticed their NAVTEQ traffic subscription seems to have gone missing on their Nuvi?

Today during a routine check of my 2595, I checked my traffic provider(s), (I have the unit set up as a European country, so I have the option to either pick a specific provider or leave it on "auto"), I found that "NAVTEQ" is no longer list in the choices. Currently the screen is showing "Total Traffic $ (US, CAN)" and something new/previously unknown: "HERE Traffic $ (US,CAN)". Checking the developer diagnostic screen which lists the current available channels being received [table] confirms this: 11 total traffic channels, 1 Here channel and NO NAVTEQ channels listed. Previously the table showed about a 50/50 mix of channels between Total Traffic and Navteq.

The only thing that has changed lately is the New GTM update. Since this appeared to be for Digital traffic, I shouldn't apply to my Nuvi, but who knows? I'm concerned because some areas I travel in receive more NAVTEQ channels than Total Traffic. (and vice-versa)

It's always something!

Navteq IS Now Here

I beleive you are OK if your 2595 is diaplaying Here as diasplayed in the Developers screen.
I'm not sure if this has changed when viewing the "Subscriptions" page when plugged into 12V and receiving Traffic signals. That still may display Navteq.

Navteq has become "Here". The new display probaly appeared after you did the GTM update to reflect the name change.

It is true that Navteq has become "Here". I found this out when I updated my GM factory navigation map a few months back. The update disc came from the new name website.

Here = Navteq

As others have said, Here = Navteq. I think "Here" is a dumb name for the company. They should have stuck with Navteq.

"Navteq" = "Here" O-K....

Thanks everyone! Just to clarify, the new traffic provider (HERE) shows up in the providers list when the traffic cable is connected. I have no issue with them changing their name....I just hope they didn't fork over huge sums of money to some big agency to come up with that name! mrgreen

I'm a little worried though that "HERE" is only showing one frequency (channel) in the table now. NAVTEQ always showed at least 6-8 before. I even cleared the list and after it refreshed it was back to 11 TT and 1 HERE.

It

It isn't just the traffic that is now known as Here. Type Navteq.com into your browser and you will end up at Here com.

They supply the maps to Garmin so it will be interesting to see what happens with the lifetime maps if Garmin and Microsoft cannot make a deal.

Microsoft Buys Nokia – What will become of Navteq/Here?

http://blumenthals.com/blog/2013/09/03/microsoft-buys-nokia-...

"Microsoft bought Nokia today for $7.2 billion dollars. Nokia, you will recall, bought Navteq in 2007 for $8.1 billion in what was hailed at the time as pivotal move by Nokia into location based services.

But as Horace Dediu pointed out, by late 2012 Navteq had been losing about $1 billion a year for Nokia and the purchase effectively had cost Nokia’s stock holders $11 billion in total since it had been acquired. He notes that Google is rumored to be spending a similar $1 billion a year to maintain their Maps data. Tomtom, now worth about $1.5 billion in total, appears to have done little better with their $4 billion TeleAtlas purchase."
