Download map to computer option in Garmin Express?
I never seem to get this option when using GE. It just seems to rev itself up and start the download to the Nuvi automatically without any questions. I usually end up using MapUpdater afterwards to download it to the PC. MapUpdater asks you questions and gives you options. GE just says "Ready" and off it goes.
BTW, MapUpdater still works with my XP laptop, but it ALWAYS errors out on the first attempt. Second run always goes without a hitch. Thanks!

Download map to computer option in Garmin Express? I never seem to get this option when using GE.
It's not patently obvious, but poke around a little in the screens and you'll find it. Used it to update the computer, both the 255 and computer at the same time.
My Maps has "CN North America NT" 2015.20 AL, trafficTrends North america 4.25.
Just up my Nuvi 2450 on SC card for the first time
This is what my SC Card has under "Map"
gmapupdate.gma, 3kb
gmapupdate.img, 2312.576
gmapupdate.unl
Is this what it should have? What about junction view files?
Also there is a gmappupdate.gsd, 0kb in Garmin
That looks correct to me although I don't have a 2450. My 2460 was still able to update all of North America internally so I haven't needed a SD card yet for it. Junction Views should display when you either drive or simulate a route with JVs--they're not listed as maps.
As long as your MyMaps has the 2015.20 checked and it works complete with JVs when you're on the road, you're correctly updated.
Is 2015.10 no longer offered in MyMaps? And you no longer have a large gmapprom.img in the nuvi storage, correct?
Can City Navigator NT be updated on my portable marine device (GPSMAP 276c, 376c, 378, 478)?
07/18/2014
City Navigator NT updates are no longer compatible with these devices due to both hardware limitation of the device and improvements in mapping technology.

Thanks for your help.

It can certainly work from the SD card but the update process will normally place it on the Nuvi.
If you find it there and what to have it on the card just create a Garmin folder on the SD card and inside that folder create a JCV folder. Then move the JCV file from your Nuvi to the JCV folder on the SD card.
(Yes, it's the Garmin folder and not the .system folder on the SD card )

The JCV file is the correct split screen file for JVs with the 2015.20 map. It should work fine where it is--and if moved to the SD card, it should work as well. I expect you have oodles of free space on the nuvi now that the map is on the SD card so I see no reason to move the jcv file off the nuvi.
I expect the old unl file you reference was from an older City Navigator update as I remember seeing an odd unlock file associated with a JCV file in a single past map update. As far as I remember, this JCV unlock issue only was offered one time, then Garmin went back to JCV files with no unlock file needed. I expect that your unl file (for the JCV file, NOT the City Navigator MAP file!) is tiny, so you can leave it there. If you want to consider removing it, I suggest first renaming the file to something like D3191090A.unl.disabled and see if all continues to work. If so, you could delete the file from the nuvi. (You do have a computer backup in case it's ever needed, right?)
But all in all, everything looks good. I had wondered why you needed to move the map from your nuvi 2450 to a SD card when my nuvi 2460 didn't need to do that, but then I checked and see that the 2450 is a 4GB device while the 2460 is an 8GB device.

Just looked and I have 2.08 GB free.
I will leave the JCV file on the unit as you and BoxCar both said it was ok.
When I bought the 2450 I did not think to look at the size of the device. Sounds like it will work ok with the map on the SD card so I should be ok for now.

I had to talk him into the one in the car as he didn't see spending all that extra so I don't have any room to negotiate.

An issue was reported over on the Garmin software forum regarding a problem with the 2015.20 CN NA map update for the RV760 device. Apparently the map update deleted the RV Parks and Services data base. Garmin has released a fix for this problem, so if you have the RV760 you will want to run the map update again.

In GE when it shows you install maps 2015.2, click on the 'advanced options'. There are 3 options.

6.0 meg at work is always faster than the 1.5 meg at home.
Well... Just had to delete GE because it is locking up on the splash screen and will not go further.
Now the new version 3.2.17 will not make it past there either.. This is on Win 7 Pro
Finally got it to work and downloading it now.
Not sure what you mean – there are two splash screens associated with a Garmin device – one shows during the “pre-boot” stage and another during the stage when the firmware is loading. The second splash screen stays on the device when the device is connected to a computer and stays there for the duration of the connection. There is nowhere “further” for GE to go on that screen.

Cheers
I'm not sure I understand your question, but City Navigator NA 2015.20 was released on Wednesday August 13/2014.
Nuvi 350, 760, 1695LM, 3790LMT, 2460LMT, 3597LMTHD, DriveLuxe 50LMTHD, DriveSmart 61, Garmin Drive 52, Garmin Backup Camera 40 and TomTom XXL540s.
GE install options
I never seem to get this option when using GE. It just seems to rev itself up and start the download to the Nuvi automatically without any questions. GE just says "Ready" and off it goes.
BTW, MapUpdater still works with my XP laptop, but it ALWAYS errors out on the first attempt. Second run always goes without a hitch. Thanks!
In GE when it shows you install maps 2015.2, click on the 'advanced options'. There are 3 options.
nuvi 1390 LT, nuvi 1450 LMT, Win 10
Good catch alandb
Thanks for sharing

DSL is back
I had an internet outage at work for the past 6 days and got it back up this afternoon so I will have to give it a try in the morning.
6.0 meg at work is always faster than the 1.5 meg at home.

Nice
Liking this update.

GE

I think
I think he means the Garmin Express splash screen that appears when you start up GE.

Ok - I see what you mean - but I would not call that a splash screen.
