download file

I just bought a 2595 and I would like to install the rest area poi file. My question is do I need to be a "active" member to get this file.
I did try to download and I got a file that is about 164k and has is a excel file but I am not sure as I could see no way of getting the sound file for it.
The file I downloaded was
Restareacombined(ver.BJ)csv 165KB

Thanks for your help.

You

You would need Garmin's POILoader software in order to take the csv file you have downloaded and convert it to a gpi file and transfer it to the POI folder on your Nuvi.

If you downloaded the file from http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6643 then you will find links to icon and sound files at the bottom of that page.

Check out our "Learn" and "FAQ" sections (top right of the screen) for procedures about how to obtain POILoader and how to use it to install your Rest Area file with an icon and with sound.

acitve member

So I do not have to be a active member (3 times in the last 5 weeks) to get this file?

Don't

Don't think so. The red light and speed camera files require a minimum participation in this forum or a payment I believe, but they are the only ones.

I think maybe that because he couldn't determine how to get the downloaded file to work with his Nuvi he thought maybe he needed to be a member to get the secret revealed. smile

poi loader

Part of my problem was POI loader would not see the new GPS (it did see my old 265)
I phoned Garmin and they walked me through setting the MTS setting from auto detect to mass storage and that did the trick.

Thanks for your time...............CY

Miss you guys

Getting new Garmin missed you guys!!!! Forgot about all fun POIs!

Yes, MTP and USB mode settings have caused this kind of issue with other Garmin software as well. wink
