City Navigator North America 2015.10

Are there any hints when CN NA 2015.10 will be released? I have some relatives' Nuvis temporarily so it is a good opportunity to update the maps for them.

If the new version is coming out in the next week or so, I will hold off to update to the latest version, but if won't come out until late May, I will just update them to the version that was released in February.

This will be nice! It's amazing how much use I can get out of an old Nuvi 200 with an SD card and some updates. Can't wait to install speed cameras POI to fully complement my V1 radar

City Navigator North America 2015.10

Louise and I leave tomorrow on a road trip from Colorado Springs, CO to Gatlinburg, TN so I was really hoping our Nüvi would be running the new map set. It's tough to get lost on I-40, but all the same I like having the latest software.

my suggestion

My suggestion is to do everything you can to avoid US 441 south from I-40 at exit 407. I'd suggest you stay on I-40 to exit 435 and take US 321 or exit 443 and take 329 to 321. I've seen the stretch from exit 407 south take 90 minutes just to reach Sevierville on the weekends.

This area really gets congested on weekends. However, if you arrive on Sunday, you should be OK taking exit 407. I remember a few years ago we arrived down there on a Friday afternoon and I did not know there was a car show going on in Pigeon Forge. I ran into traffic north of Sevierville and did not get out of traffic until I reached the south end of Pigeon Forge. It took me over an hour to go approximately 5 miles.

Desired updates in maps

The main items I like to see in a new map are:

1. Street updates. Just last month I needed to find where a doctor's office was and the street was not on my Garmin - but it was on Google maps (did not display the correct location for the street address though). This street has been there at least 5 years, if not longer.

2. New POIs and updated/corrected POI locations. Nice to have when traveling when the stomach starts growling or a restroom will soon be needed. I will be traveling to the Preakness this weekend and we will all get hungry on the way back.

maps are here

The new maps are available and I am downloading!

Depending on

Depending on how you are downloading the update and to what GPS you are downloading to you are probably in for some issues. Garmin is advising users not to update their units until these issues are fixed.

There is a, currently, a 4 page thread called "2015.10 update out" that details the issues and resolutions, if any.

2015.1

Had no problem using GE for one GPS and MapUpdater to the second GPS to update 2015.1. Thank gooodness I keep backups of the GPS's because it wiped out the gmapdem.img completely on the 3790. I was able to reinstall from my backup though.

But the BIG problem is trying to download it to the computer so MapSource or BaseCamp can use it too.

NO GO after 4 tries!!!
