Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but sometimes when I put my GPS in sleep mode (quick hit of the power button, not full-fledged shut-down) it will restart itself after a few seconds. When it does so it will also invariably restore previously deleted saved places.
It does this regardless of how current my firmware might be.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Why your unit comes back on is something I can't help with, but for the other...
Check to see if there is another file in the same folder holding Current.GPX. If so, you need to delete any with the name Current(X).GPX or Temp.GPX as the system will read these and append them to the data stored in protected memory. Items can only be deleted from protected memory by using the unit to access your favorites and selecting the items to be removed. Current.GPX is a copy of what's stored in protected memory, so editing it does no good even using BaseCamp or MapSource.

Also be aware that sleep mode is just that...sleep mode. Any changes to actual files on the unit won't be reflected until a power-cycle is performed. The 8x0/8x5 series is notorious for this behavior. Any changes you make to the file system (.gpx or otherwise) are not performed until you power-cycle the unit. On the 8x0/8x5, this requires you to remove, then reinstall the battery (which is removable on those units).
Other nuvis besides the 8x0/8x5 series will power-cycle themselves when connected/disconnected from the PC.
As Box Car mentioned, look for any .gpx files and either move them off the unit or rename them to something other than *.gpx. Something like xxxxxxxx.xxx.disabled works great for me when it comes times to disable a file on the nuvi.

Actually, you can hold the power switch in the off position for at least 10 seconds and the 8XX unit will cold boot.
