Garmin 25xxLMT input delay

My 2595 has no delay for Where To -> Address. (Did you know you could enter the address directly into the search bar at the top of the screen?)

Do other search functions have delays? Have you taken your GPS outside yet and gotten a satellite lock? Have you installed the latest firmware (V7.90)?

You might want to give Garmin a call for more troubleshooting.

Yes my unit is fully updated and receiving sat signal. I've played with it a little, and apparently, the delay only happens the first time I tap "Address", subsequent taps has no delay until the unit is rebooted, then the 1st address search delays (I timed it at 12 seconds). No other search function has any delays.

One other question, is there a way to clear my searches.

With your finger nail. I tried mine and it work without any delays.

I've been using mine for a couple of weeks, everything is working fine except for that weird delay, when I get a chance, I'll call Garmin about it.

Besides not having Garmin Lock, I also wish this unit has a powered clip like the 2460, very inconvenient to have to plug and unplug every time I use it.

I'm not sure how to respond to your advice, so I have 2 versions.

1. Thank you, I tried tapping it with my "finger nail" instead of my finger, it still has that delay, any other suggestions?

2. I've tried tapping my 2595 screen with everything from a Q-tip to a hammer, but it's still has that delay, go figure.

Your Delay could Indicate that your memory is Full. If you have the max of favorites entered (1,000) your memory will be Full and almost everything will be Slow, but youy can verify that with the Factory.

Press RECENT (lower RHS of screen) then press the three (3) lines in Top LHS of Screen and Press "Clear"

My 2595 has the same problem!

I haven't noticed it before because I very rarely turn the unit off, and rarely use an address search... not a biggie for me.

Where To -> Recent -> press Options (3 bars at top left of screen), then Clear

No delay with ours. I am impressed that it fires up almost instantly compaired to our previous models. Didn't notice that Garmin Lock was gone. That's interesting.

Same behavior with mine. No biggie for me though. I have it for many moons. Never did notice it, since I do not use the "Address" search any more with the 2495. Always use the global search bar straight from "Where to". It returns the results within a few seconds for most of the searches I did. I like especially the free format, e.g. "123 Main Street, Anytown, CA".

Over all, I am quite happy with it. I got mine, 2495LMTHD, from Costco(USA) website. It comes with the HD traffic as a bonus.

I only have maybe 30 or 40 favorites saved, and after all the replies, I've come to the conclusion that it's a software/firmware problem with Garmin for this unit.

Most people probably don't even realize this problem exists because they usually don't turn the unit "off" completely.

For those reading this post, try completely turning "off" the unit by pressing and holding the power button until "Turn off the device?" shows and press "Off", then press the power button for a second to turn the unit back on, after boot up, go Where To? > Address, you'll probably get that 10 to 12 second delay before the search page shows.

I don't usually turn my unit off neither, but every time I disconnect it from the computer after updates, it is "Off" and has to be booted up again. Maybe a future software/firmware update will fix this problem, but I admit it's not that big of a deal. At least I now know I don't have a defective unit.

I believe it fires up almost instantly because you didn't turn the unit off, you are just waking the unit up from "Sleep" mode.

Thanks, but I didn't mean clearing the "Recent" items, I meant clearing the searches that gets saved for the search bar at the top of the main screen, and all the other buttons like "Restaurants", "Gas Stations", "Shopping", etc.
