Loading NON .csv files into my new Rand McNally 7720 RVGPS

I want to load the POIs for the major truck stops (Loves, TA, Pilot, Flying J) for example. I have not found any POIs of these places that are in .csv format and I have absolutely no idea how to convert them into the proper format. Any ideas?

There is software called Extra POI Editor (EPE) that was written by TurboCC - a member of this site. I swear by it for opposite reasons that I am about to suggest.

It can read and write a number of formats (.csv, .gpx, .ov2, .mgln and .kml).

It seems that that files that you want from this site are only in .gpx format but that would be no problem for EPE. What you will have to do is to decide how you will want to consolidate the extra information that the .gpx file provides into the fields allowed in the .csv file.

I have no knowledge at all of Rand units but on my Garmin, a .csv file is of the form
<Lon>,<Lat>,["]<Name>[@<Alert Speed>]["],["] [comment]["]

One can consolidate a number of pieces of information like "address", "city", "state", "zipcode", "phone", etc into the [comment] field by enclosing the entire [comment] field in double quotes, as indicated.

There are a number of good FAQs on downloading, setting up and troubleshooting EPE

Extra POI Editor (EPE):
Downloading and Installing EPE {G}
Configuring EPE {G}
Building alert distances in GPX files using EPE {G}
Troubleshooting EPE - Application window does not appear {G}
Troubleshooting EPE - Run-time errors and crashes {G}
Testing POI Alerts – Manual mode {G}
Testing POI Alerts – Express mode {G}

While they are written assuming a Garmin unit they will still apply if the goal is to output a .csv file.

Loading Non .Csv Files to Rand McNally 7720

I have the same frustration as Keeter59. I'm a newbie here and not as tech savvy as some so was just wondering if the files could be made available to download already converted to .Csv format to make life simpler for us Rand McNally user? I appreciate that would be extra work for someone but just saying. I was planning to load the Costco location file. I have seen that there is a program Extra POI Editor out there but I refer back to my non Tech savvy comment.

Costco is already in csv format. No need to convert that one.
