voice proximity alerts?

Hello,
I have been trying to find out how to get voice proximity alerts to work on my new Garmin nuvi 2595lmt. I downloaded the latest POI loader, I have all my poi's loaded on device. i have the .mp3 files named the same as matching file, (ex: restarea.csv, restarea.mp3)all i get is an audible beep when near POI. I do i get voice alert to work?
Thanks in advance
Ron

You're at 80%

Congrats, you're 80% of the way there. Your 2595 can not play mp3 audio so you'll need to use wav files and have sox.exe loaded to your computer. Details can be found here:

The audible beep you're getting now is good news as it shows that you have Proximity Alerts enabled and have most likely run POI Loader in Manual Mode which lets you enable a distance alert.

PS--For rest areas, I use a 15,000 foot alert distance. I hope you're using MrKenFL's Rest Areas Combined POI file. It's the best of the rest area files offered here for many reasons.

Thanks, was able to complete

Thanks, was able to complete re-formatting mp3 to wav. downloaded file and added file to garmin folder. wont know for sure if it works until tomorrow while using it.

All sounds good. If you still don't get wav alerts, the usual culprit is the location of sox.exe. You have it in the same folder that has the POI Loader.exe file, right? On a Windows 7 machine, POI Loader.exe is probably in the c:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\POI Loader folder.

A second cause of failure is the wrong version of sox.exe. If you used the one downloadable from the link, you're good. Newer versions of sox.exe will not work with POI Loader.
