Internet Devices With GPS

My wife and I are RVing right now and we have been in Gulf Shores the past week. For internet, I have been using an Inseego MiFi X Pro 5G M3000. I noticed that when I bring up Google maps, my location was not shown. I found out that the M3000 has an internal GPS, but it was turned off. I enabled it and Google maps once again shows my current location.

The Inseego M3000 was overheating and rebooting, so I bought a Straight Talk Home Internet device. It turns out that it does not have a GPS receiver in it, thus no display of where we are located on Google maps.

When we move to our next campground in Mississippi in a week, it will be interesting to see how the device behaves. Obviously, the Verizon towers can determine where we are without a GPS, but I will find out if Straight Talk still works or stops working due to the location change.

Internet Devices With GPS

I am still using the Straight Talk Home Internet device. It has continued working even though we camped at two other locations on the drive north and are home now.

I may have found a fix for the Inseego M3000, to. Someone suggested leaving the Settings Menu open and it will not shut down. So far, so good.

I did play around with the GPS portion of the Inseego. I did a cut and paste of the coordinates that it displayed onto Google Maps. It was right on the mark.

Starlink

Have you seen the new Star-link mini dishes? I used to use them on the boat I worked on. They work pretty well. Just a thought if you were looking for a non-cell based internet on the go solution.
