The forum is so slow

Why? It's the only web site I use that's dragging.

and it's illegal

David King wrote:

We will call you back if we get an answering machine. And, we can control the number you see on the ID, so that may not work except for that one job.

Reporting an incorrect Caller ID, or spoofing the reported number is illegal according to the FCC. That being stated, it is well known the telephone companies allow a subscriber of an ISDN PRI circuit to control the customer level ID. However, they cannot spoof or change the circuit number which is also carried by each call and is reported as well. It's just the CLID or Calling Line ID that's used by the devices and software reporting who is calling.

There is a way to fight this as well. If you have a toll line, such as an incoming toll-free number you will get the correct information regardless of what is displayed. This is because of the needed billing information to verify charges for distance related usage. Is this difficult to set up? Not really, but you need to work with an individual called an Account Representative or Account Specialist to have your local number routed through a toll-free number. This means you will be charged for each and every call, but you can get a report of all numbers with their billing information so telemarketers can be blocked no matter what their caller ID says.

I guess I was told wrong, or heard wrong. We would not do anything illegal.

Thanks.

Iphone stolen

Daughter had her Iphone stolen while at a bar near Cubs park in Chicago. Her and girl friend had them lying on table in very crowded restaurant bar (against everything I had ever told her). Two guys swooped in, grabbed the IPhones and retreated to who knows where. Daughter said she never even saw them except for two hands grabbing the cells. Maybe this will be the last time she trusts the surrounding customers. I doubt it, but who knows.
