POI's for Nuvi 2595

Just bought a new Nuvi 2595 to replace my old 750. When I added all of my POI files via the POI loader, everything went smooth. Then I opened the custom POI area on the 2595 and instead of the nice list of the POI files, it only shows me addresses. To me that's pretty useless. Am I doing something wrong? I just want to see the list of POI files on the device

When these files were on your 750 and you went to Where to? > Extras, what did you see?

A list of the poi files.

A list of the poi files. Such as Walmart, rest area, target, etc. Then I would select the file and the poi's would list based on distance from where I was

The "categories" that you saw seem to be based on there being sub-folders to a master folder.

What did the folder to which you pointed POI Loader contain? POI files or folders with POI files?

POI files. Either .csv or

POI files. Either .csv or .gpx files

Some references

If the folder just had files, then there would be no "categories" at all. From your posts, I think you are interested in seeing, say, Walmarts separate from rest areas. This requires folders.

charlesd45 has a FAQ on POIs with and without "categories". See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721

bear007 has given us info on the "order" when multiple .gpi files exist. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/36011

Folders

I did what someone said here and it worked. Made one folder on my desktop named it Garmin POIS. Inside that folder I created different folders for each group of pois ex Red Light Cameras, Rest Stops Etc. When you go to the POI loader load the Garmin Poi folder Then it will individually load each folder inside the main folder. When you turn on your GPS and go to Categories and then hit Custom Poi's. You will now have your POI's in separate folders. The 2595lmt did this on it's own until the 6.3 garmin update. Hope this helps, Jerry

Did I read correctly?

Jerry,
Are you saying that your 2595lmt created "categories" from one folder full of files before the 6.3 update?

Yes it did, Hope they fix this back with the 6.4 update when it comes out.

My 2555 also had a nice list

My 2555 also had a nice list of poi files until the last update now it just shows the address's also. I may try Orlandorealtors method and see if it works.

I used the

I used the master/subcategory folder method on my 2595 and it works.

Please email or call Garmin and report this problem as they are not totally convinced that v6.20 broke things. The more people they hear from the better.
