A new-to-me Nuvi! ;-)

My GF has a 3 year old Nuvi (don't know the model) that we just freed from its plastic coffin last week! Question: how does it connect to the PC for updates, downloads, etc. as there was no USB/Garmin cord included just a 12V charging cord?
Also, do the Nuvi's come with a memory card or is the slot empty - I didn't examine the thing that close nor did I read the instructions. We plugged it in, turned it on and it worked OK...there were no sat problems either.

Need to know the model in order to research what kind of usb connection is needed and then the information will fly off the page from the great people here on this forum. I am pretty sure the packaging and or the rear of the unit will offer up some kind of info! Happy hunting!!!!

The units generally do not come with an SD or micro SD card in the package.
go here http://www.garmin.com/us/ first and place your model number in the search box and it will direct you to your units Features / Specs page. You will also be able to download the (not so complete) manual for the unit the will get you on you way.
Let us know your new toy's model number.

Just let us know the model
Just let us know the model number. You can go to the Garmin sight and download WebUpdater. With this, you just connect her Nuvi to the computer via USB cable. Anytime there is a software update or any smaller updates like a Voice Update, you can connect here and download it to your unit.

It is real easy to do. Now for MAP updates,she can go here. http://www.garmin.com/us/extras/downloads
If her unit has Life Time Maps,she can update her maps anytime there is a new update, usually 4 times per year.
She will enjoy her new Garmin.

Standard mini USB
Uses a standard Mini-USB for PC connection when downloading maps or POI's. Software is on the Garmin site. POILoader, and WebUpdater.
