OK, admittedly, I did not give up my watch voluntarily...it is "under repair." In the meantime, I am stuck with just my smartphone to keep me informed of the time. How-some-ever, being in this predicament has made me aware that there are indeed several people who do not wear a watch and pull out their smartphone (or cellphone) when they want to check the time.
So, how many of you have taken the plunge and replaced your watch with your cell/smartphone?

If you carry a cell phone, you do not need to carry a watch.
Good luck to all.
Try telling that to medical staff.
The hospitals (many) still think you shouldn't be using a cell in their facility.
Yup, Nurse Daisy is holding up her Samsung Galaxy Note to to take a pulse, time something etc...I can just see it... LOL
Isn't there an app for that?

Two cellular devices
Have not wore a watch for many years. Carrying two phones (personal and work), plus a pedometer with a clock is adequate redundancy for my timekeeping needs
Watch for me!
Seeing that I do not carry my cell phone around with me all the time, I prefer a watch. I can just glance at it, instead of taking it out of my pocket, turning it on, read the time, than turn it off, then put it back in my pocket.

New TAG in da house
I recently picked up a new TAG Heuer - an AQUARACER!
It's self winding so I don't need to recharge/replace batteries!
It will probably outlast my current phone, not to mention any future phones I get! My last TAG did...and it still works - it's currently on vacation in a drawer, I've had it since 1989.

Watch finally died
My "under repair" watch finally died and I had to replace it. Unfortunately, the watch I ordered from Amazon didn't arrive until after I had left on a business trip. So, I was without a watch for over a week.
Again I was reminded how often I look at my watch (which wasn't there), and there were times when I couldn't look at my cellphone (on the airplane).
Another place was when I was giving a brief in a secure area where I was not allowed to bring my cellphone. Amazingly, there were no clocks in that room, so I had no way to judge my time. (I suppose that is why you rehearse your briefs.)
Even when I did use my cellphone to check the time, my wife complained that I was spending too much time on my cellphone and not enough time with her!

I would say 9 out of 10 people do NOT wear a watch here for several reasons, tan lines being one and not a necessity. Neither do I but I have my Blackberry with me about 95% of the time and I get the correct time from it. You eat when you're hungry and drink when necessary!!!
Also if someone asks you for the time when you are wearing a watch, I BET YOU 5 seconds later you can not tell me the time without again looking at your watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I can give up
I don't think I can give up using a watch. It's too much hassle to take it out of my pocket, turn on the phone to look at the time, turn it off and put it back in my pocket. It's just quicker and easier to look on my wrist and be done with. Besides, I love my Mickey Mouse watches.
A matter of convenience
I agree with others who say that taking a cellphone out of the pocket, turning it on to check the time, turning it off and putting it away is a lot more trouble than glancing at the wrist. I like a digital watch with a clear display that shows the time, day of the week, month and date. I've tried going watch-less and always come back to my Timex
Watch-free for at least 10 years
I can't remember the last time I wore a watch, but it has been at least 10 years. I bought my first cell phone in 1999, however I think I still used a watch for a few years after that.
For many years, the main problem I had being watch-free was not knowing the current time when I was on a cross-country flight (which was frequent), since my phone had to be turned off while flying. Only recently (about two months ago) did I get a phone with "airplane mode", so now I can tell what time it is while in-flight (although the time is from the departure time zone, only).

I Luv My Watch!
My wristwatch died for about a month just this year (dead battery, turns out) and I had to resort to my phone. It just felt wrong to have to root around in my pocket every time I needed to check the time of day.
I guess I'm just too old school ...

No Thanks!
I have worn three watches in my life. I got my first for my 16th birthday and lost it three months later. I got a Timex for my wedding and had that for 20 years. When that one died I got my Casio and have that one almost twenty years.
In the past five years I've probably gone through half a dozen cell phones at work and at home. If I wanted to fish through my pockets to tell time, I'd get a POCKET watch!
Give up watch?
This would never happen!!!!
