Nuvi 3790t or Nuvi 2595lmt?

I'm thinking of purchasing between one of these gps units and would like some feedback from members here on which one they think is better. Thanks.

Maps would sway me

Consumer reports rates them fairly close. Myself, I would opt for the lower price and the lifetime maps of the 2595LMT.

The 3790t has 3D but that does not mean much to me. It also has a longer battery life but if the unit is to be used in a vehicle, that does not mean much. It has eco and my trends but I know nothing about them

.

If size is a concern, the 37xx wins for being the thinnest GPS unit out there (that I know of).

3790

Got one at Thanksgiving time and really like it. I have had a 660 for several years and this one is much nicer and size is great. Get a small Garmin case for it tho. It's smaller than my Droid X but full bright screen.

2495lmt

I like 2495lmt than the other.

I Would Choose the 2595LMT

Lifetime maps are essential. Since it is frequently only a $15-$30 difference between a given unit with lifetime maps and the same unit without them, it makes little sense to me not to choose this feature.

The 5" display on the 2595lmt is easy to read. The higher resolution of the 3790t is also easy to read. The deciding feature for me is that the larger screen of the 2595lmt makes for better side-by-side junction views and/or for an expanded data display.

3-D is an interesting feature but not useful for me, given the amount of time I am in urban areas.

Battery life is inconsequential for automotive use.

The power mount of the 37xx series is very convenient and easy to use but I could get along without it.

The exit services feature (tells you approaching services on highway) available on the 2595lmt would be a very useful feature for me.

I like and regularly use the "At the Pump" feature of eco-route to keep up with average mileage. I don't use the other features of eco-route and would not miss it if I did not have it. You can always add it to the 2595lmt if you want it.

I have a love/hate relationship with the 37xx's "My-Trends" feature. I would give it up in a heartbeat for the exit services and large screen on the 2595lmt.

I have only used the 2595lmt's purported "advanced navigation engine" in simulation mode in the store but I did not find any noticeable difference from the speed or accuracy of the navigation of the 37xx series. Others who have the advantage of real world use of both navigation systems could better respond to this issue.

Happy Trails to You! smile

I'm w/ selfruler on that.

I'm w/ selfruler on that. The 2595LMT is packed w/ features and a good unit. It's still list price most everywhere for now, but I'd expect that to change as the August launch and Christmas gets further away.

I will always be partial to my old 765T. It broke.
Does my 3790 do more? Kinda, but it's value is in the users ability to use those functions. I don't use a lot of its functions, and that's the key. Problem is, we don't know for sure if we will use "my trends" for example until we try it. Generally when a new unit comes out it is NOT packed with a bunch of new features...just one, or a different presentation or enhancement of another. Value for the Money might be a better way to look at it. I will tell you that Free Maps is always at the top of my list. Can't say free, cause you do pay for them.
LMT is a must.

Perwsonal Choice

As with most things, everyone has a personal perspective. I have had a 660 for five years (that long?) and thought it was great. But I recently got a 370lmt and love it.

I like that it is thin, light and bright. It's got features I haven't figured out yet - and as mentioned earlier, many I probably won't use.

The only problem in making a choice is Buyers' Regret. And that will occur no matter what unit you get wink

My advice, whatever you

My advice, whatever you decide get the one with the Lifetime Maps. The GPS is only as good as the data on it. Unless you plan to upgrade every year or so, map updates become very valuable as the unit ages.
