Playing Sound on Garmin Nuvi-50LM

I read through Motorcycle Mama's FAQ on installing .wav files to play alert sounds. Do the newer Nuvi's not play MP3's?
My old sound files do not play so I am assuming that I need to get .wav files installed on this unit?
Can someone confirm this?

Thank you so much for the FAQ. You might want to include one more step. You need to take all of the files OUT of the unzipped file and put those files in the POI loader directory. If you put the folder in there with the files it will not work...I think

Confirmed, newer model Nuvi's DO NOT play mp3's.

.Wav files worked on my 40LM, following the steps in the link CraigW posted. I think these models are the same, other than screen size.
