If a text msg. like that were sent, it'd be one of those things that once you reply you start getting charged $9.99/mo. due to premium SMS services or something! lol
That I remember, many Garmins have 2 types of default alerts. 1) is the bong...bong which may be the distance alert and 2) is a bing...bing, slightly higher pitched. I think it might be for a speed alert.
I just found it on a search. Read this and see if this helps.

Hi There Why?
Hi All!
But a question to anyone that may know. Why do we say Hi There? What is the purpose of the "There"?
Expect nothing!, appreciate benignity!

"Here" can be used to describe the place you currently occupy.
Anything that isn't here, must be "there"...
Since two people cannot simultaneously occupy the same space, the statement, "I am here, you are there" can be thought of as true.
Since the person you are talking to is 'over there', then the statement "Hi there' makes sense.
(Of course the above probably doesn't make much sense to those who have no idea of the difference between there, their and they're)
Here, hear!
or is it Si, see, sea? Your, you're?
"It's not where you start, but where you end up." Where am I and what am I doing in this hand basket?

re: Garmin 1390LMT
I was wondering if the signal for the red light camera alert is a slight 2X ding? My old Garmin unit had a ding as well as sign that came on.

Alert
when you don't have any sound file with the alert I believe it usually sounds like a "Bong ... bong"

The alert seemed fairly quiet as opposed to a Bong...Bong.

It is an older thread so remember that recent model Garmin GPSs use wav files now.

Wouldn't that make here and there a route?

Really?
Anything that isn't here, must be "there"...
Or "on-route" which is somewhere in between
