Where do I find the POI"s on a Nuvi 3790?

I have loaded them to the SD card using POI Loader BUT I don't see them. There does not appear to be an Extras spot like there is on my 660. I remember reading about it on here but I didn't have one so I didn't pay attention to the answer. Help!

Did you use poi loader version 2.7.0?

If so then the file going to the sd card has an extension on it of xxx.poi. Hook the nuvi to the computer and go to the sd card and change the extension to .gpi.
There is a problem with this poi loader.

Thanks

As soon as the map update ends, I'll try that.

Per the manual they are in

Per the manual they are in where to/ extras as you indicated you looked in.

When you look on the card what is the file extension? NOTE: I am not a mac user.

Your manual is here: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi3760T_OwnersManual.pdf

What file name do you see on the SD card?

What file name do you see on the SD card? As stated above, the file needs to end with .gpi.

@CraigW

Do you think the mac version is messed up like the windows version is?

Good question

Good question but I'm not a Mac user either so we need someone with a Mac to report back.

Another option: as a test, why not load the POI files to the nuvi rather than the SD card? If both fail, the issue may be different than if it just fails on SD.

PS--I'm not familiar with the 3790 display. Is it possible that the missing "Extras" tab is on page 2 of the menu and not visible until after touching the Down Arrow?

It's solved!!!

What I think is a stupid menu Problem. Touch Settings>Navigation>Automobile>Proximity Points>alerts enabled. Problem solved. Extras now in menu for "where to"

Good sleuth work!

Wouldn't you think the default setting should be "on?"

Manual is almost useless!

There is a definite lack of info in the manual. I have it printed and it was a waste of paper. Also yes I can't imagine why default is not "on". The answer is searchable on here now tho.

The manuals are lacking.

The manuals are lacking. That I agree with. I did not have to turn it on for my 650 or my 1350.

That was a thought I had afterwards but got involved in something else. Glad you got it sorted.

Poor Manuals

The manuals are lacking for sure.
When they provide manuals for several different models in that manual, then sometimes fail to identify what specific model # a certain feature applies to.

Amazing, we have to absorb the cost of the paper & ink, the least they can do is supply a comprehensive manual. I'm sure many a CS call could have been avoided had the owner found the answer in the manual.
Penny wise, dollar foolish, in my opinion.
