Got new nüvi® 1350LMT

So I got yet another Garmin. A nüvi® 1350LMT with lifetime map and traffic. Anything out of the ordinary about this unit that I should know. I have set it up on an RV so it will be interesting to see if I can get the leaf to go green! I miss the voice with the British accent. It was more pleasing than the US voice and now they don't offer that version!

I have had 2 Garmin nuvi 1350lmt with problems, I upgraded to the Garmin nuvi 2350lmt now, the following knowledge base is the problems that I had with the Garmin nuvi 1350lmt, problems occured with the latest version of software at that time, version 5.30

Here's the Garmin knowledge base:
Question: Why does my nuvi 1200, 1300, 1400, series devices reboot or shutdown while navigating an active route?
Answer:

Please note that if your nuvi is experiencing any of the following symptoms, a software update was released in order to help prevent these issues from occurring:

* Unit shuts down while navigating an active route
* Unit reboots while navigating an active route, powers back on, however reboots again once you attempt to View Map on the device

In order to update your nuvi please utilize Garmin's Webupdater program which will update your unit to the latest available software. If your unit continues to experience a rebooting issue please contact Garmin Customer Support for further assistance.

I just got the same unit and had to reinstall British Daniel ( I call him Jeeves). Plug the receiver into the USB and run WebUpdater. Daniel TTS will be an option to install along with a whole list of languages. After install select Daniel as a voice on the receiver and you have your British buddy back.

My second trip with the 1350 was to the infamous Kentucky Speedway NASCAR race. There I learned that the specific area of traffic backup is limited to metro areas. I was in a 22 mile back up and according to the GPSr it ended at a underpass. When I got to that underpass the traffic was still backed up and my delay time was gone from the unit. Google maps / traffic showed the full traffic jam on my phone. Also when I was leaving the Cleveland area and avoid traffic option was enabled. When I hit a patch of traffic it routed me off at an exit and then right back onto the freeway at the entrance where I just got off. Luckily I looked at the routing before I looked like a jerk doing that move and just stayed on the highway.

Traffic 1350LMT

Wow! good to know now not so sure if this is a unit i want to stay on because my old c550 seems to be better than these new ones the programming is not really helping.

since i use detour alot with chicago traffic going anywhere or to my clients.

Firmware updated to 5.40 a few months ago

Something he points out is that there was a firmware update that fixed the reboot issue. In fact, the current version of the firmware is now 5.40. The spontaneous reboots he mentions are no longer an issue, if my device, which uses the same firmware, is any indicator.

Just got my 1350LMT and I too was hopeful for the British voice. This install worked flawlessly. Thanks so much for making me smarter.
