nüvi 13xx and 14xx Firmware Version 5.70 is out

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4551

Changes made from version 5.40 to 5.70:

  • Added new Fleet Management Interface features.
  • Fixed Fleet Management Interface errors.
  • Added support for Maged, a new Arabic text-to-speech voice language.
  • Fixed an error that caused TrafficMaster UK subscription to display as 'New Subscription' when using a GTM 25.
  • Fixed map display errors.
  • Fixed POI search errors.
  • Fixed route calculation and display errors.
  • Fixed an error that caused location information to not appear on the Go! page for certain Points of Interest.

I'm upgrading as we speak. But this is supposed to fix the favorites issue.

EDIT: Favorites are FIXED!!!

Thanks

Thanks for the heads-up. The update went as expected & my Nuvi 1350 is working. Will test it at a more reasonable hour.

Fred

Great news, thanks for the heads up >>>

waiting for the other shoe to drop though...is Alaska still next to Tennessee or did they mess that up smile

Just installed and it's working fine

although I can't discern any visible changes.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Great

Thanks for the notice. It's great to have the favorites icons back!

I am the first to criticize Garmin, in fairness >>>

I am also not reluctant to say "good job". V5.70 has restored the fav icons and there have been no problems that I could discern with either the d/l or execution...thanks Garmin!

Confused

Anyone have any ideas what these mean?

•Added new Fleet Management Interface features.
•Fixed Fleet Management Interface errors.

nothing to worry about

jjen wrote:

For the average user it's nothing to worry about. From my understanding it applies to specific models like the DEZL line.

Illiterate? Write for free help.

To be more accurate, it

To be more accurate, it would apply to customized units for select businesses (e.g. rental car companies) rather than to the dezl.

It might change what I have on my 1350 because the company I work for gave it to about 200 techs in the field. They have them hooked to a tracking service (sagequest).
I will be doing an update soon to see because I am interested in getting the icons back.

Many Thanks

Maybe work maybe not, Soon to find out

Hope this solves some issues

Ever since I downloaded the new NA map, large JCV file and did a software update last week, my 1490lmt had been a little weird. Freezing up and restarting itself. Notice that today, a week later there is another software update available. Hope this resolves the issues I've been having.

Are we there yet?

Routes

Just updated to 5.70 on my 1450LM, and also updated to 2012.30 maps. When I go to "Where to" "Routes", it looks like the interface has changed. It now requires an extra step to execute the route. I now have to "view map" and then hit "go". This is adding an extra step. No big deal, but is anyone else seeing this?

Mike

Same Here

I noticed the same thing. Took a bit before I found it.

My 1490 still has black

My 1490 still has black dots, just not as many.

Also experiencing occasional freezing for the first time when I updated to 5.7, never froze before on old firmware.

Mayby not such a good update after all,a t least not for me..

You might want to do a reload same software >>>

I am no huge fan of Garmin lately but my 1490T has been running fine with the update.

Upcoming Streets

I have seen on another thread that Garmin is restoring the Upcoming Street feature. I am hoping to see that in the next firmware update.

I got it on my last FW update on my Zumo 660, not on the Nuvi 765T yet.

Have you assigned icons to your favourites? (the black dot is the default icon). To assign an icon, edit the favourite then select "Change Map Symbol"

I noticed the same thing. Took a bit before I found it.

I read on another forum that Garmin has added a new feature that gives you the ability to choose route preferences before you hit Go.

Instead of selecting "View Map", choose "Recalculate". You will be taken to the Route Preference screen, where you can select fastest, shortest, etc.

Well done, Garmin!

dots...

The dots I still see are present when I zoom in while moving along major streets. These dots do not appear to have anything to do with favourites. I very seldom have any and I delete the favourites file both from the Nuvi and when I upload geocaches - which is daily as I am always changing macro coding.

DOTS

The dots you are seeing are the built-in pois such as businesses that Garmin does not have an icon associated. Such as Bills Plumbing.

Dang it, it worked

Do you think it will apply to ALL units?

Do you think the upcoming street feature will apply to ALL units or just certain ones, like the Nuvi?

Slow Redraws, RTL Trap Errors

I've encountered both of these and had to revert to 5.40 for the time being. I lose the favorites icons but gain a much more stable device. The favorites icons were never a big issue for me.

I've notified Garmin of my dissatisfaction and requested them to issue an updated firmware ASAP.
