3490 LMT Proximity Alerts

I cannot find where to turn on Proximity Alerts on the 3490LMT. The User Manual say it's under settings but it does not appear on the device. I sent a request to Garmin support and the response was to read the manual. Sigh.

Anyone else having this problem?

Did you put in any custom pois with alerts?Once you load custom pois to GPS it will show up.

I did load the same POIs I

I did load the same POIs I have on my 3760. They show up on the 3490 and I see some of the icons as I drive around but no audible or other alert and I can find no where on the device to enable Proximity Alerts. I've been on the phone with Garmen support and they of course have been no help.

I guess I'll do a hard reset and see if that helps.

Run poiloader in manual mode

Run poiloader in manual mode and set a distance you want for the alert. You will get a bong alert if on the same road of travel the coordinates are located. If you want voice alerts you will need sox.exe and wav files. You unit will not play mp3.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730

This topic has been discussed numerous times with the 3790. Do a search on your topic and the forum should come up. In the meantime here is how I access the alerts on my 3790.
Click on the following;
tools
settings
navigation
automobile
scroll down to proximity points
there you will find Alerts & Audio

Remember as stated before you can also do this with POIEDITOR

On my 3490 I loaded the POI's from this website and as you stated they show up on the map while driving, and the alerts work right out of the box. I didn't have to change any of the settings.
I like that the alerts occupy the top of the screen from side to side.

On the 3490 the Audible Alerts are found at the following location:
Click Settings
Scroll down to Proximity Alerts
Click on either Audio or Alerts
