New Extras data found on card message

After loading POIs on my 1490LMT's microSD card, and powering the unit on, I get the following message:
"New Extras data found on card. Would you like to install this data so that it will be available if the card is removed?"
I want to keep the data just on the SD card and NOT copy it to the unit's internal memory. On my old 255W there was a way to eliminate this message from appearing each time the unit was powered on.
Is there a way to eliminate this message from appearing each time the 1490 was powered on? I haven't been able to find one yet.
Thanks for the help.
There should be a check box
There should be a check box that says "Do not ask this again". Make sure it's checked and then tap "No".

Based on other posts for your model. You can't remove that message like some other models can. See (link no longer available) for the 265.

A lot of the new units will not allow you to stop that message. I am in the same boat with my 1350. I just got used to hitting the NO button.

I have to defer to you guys.
I have to defer to you guys. I manually transfer the GPI files from my hard drive to the internal memory of my 1300 and never see this message.

I'm confused
I thought one has to load the poi's with the Poi Loader to the sd or the internal memory. My understanding of "manual" would be copying from the computer to the internal gps memory. My extra/custom poi's are all on my sd card and I Always get the message would I like to install them on the internal memory when I first start up the gps (1390).
POI Loader save options are
POI Loader save options are the device and the computer. So I save the GPI files to the hard drive and then transfer them to the internal memory of the GPS AND the SD Card (for backup purposes). I think you might be confusing POI Loader's options with MapInstall, which limits you to internal memory or SD Card.

Can I
load the poi's to the computer and then copy them to the sd and then the message to install them to the internal will stop coming up each time I start up? I think maybe I missed the option in Poi Loader to be able to install to the computer. I only know enough to get by.. I've updated my maps but MapInstall doesn't sound familiar to me.
Answers
Yes, you can load the GPI files to the hard drive then transfer them to the SD Card.
The first screen that pops up on POI Loader after the introductory screen asks you where you want the GPI files: device or computer.
The POI prompt on the device will stop appearing once you tap "Yes" and allow the files to be copied to the internal memory from the SD Card.
MapInstall is the manual tool for installing maps. It's not used as much anymore because of the map updater that Garmin has available, but will become very valuable when the maps no longer fit in internal memory since with it you can copy the maps to the SD card instead of the internal memory.

I see..
so as long as I want to keep the poi's on the sd and not on the internal memory the message will continue. I think I may have 275mbs left on the internal which might be enough for the pois. I have deleted nearly all additional files that are not being used already so MapInstall will probably be needed in the future. Thank you for explaining this to me.
It does not matter how you put the pois on the sd card.
You have a device that will keep asking the question till you load them to memory, which is not what you are wanting to do.
I already had this discussion with Garmin and they thought it was a great idea to implement (A check mark to ignore the message like earlier units). Go figure.

Write protect the SD Card
With my Zumo, if I write protect the SD card, it doesn't load them into internal memory.

Do Not Ask This Again
In several of the Garmin units, checking this box does absolutely no good.
Shorthand

That doesn't work too well on the 1xxx units. All of them use a MicroSD card slot, and thus there is no write protect mechanism.
It's easier to write "SD Card" than "MicroSD Card", but in reality neither I nor anyone else should be using such shorthand.

Mapa Data
A lot of the new units will not allow you to stop that message. I am in the same boat with my 1350. I just got used to hitting the NO button.
Not sure about POI's but my 1350 has not asked about map data stored on my card.
We are talking poi's NOT map data.

You suck Garmin!
I find it very confusing that Garmin would fail to omit such a useful feature such as "do not show this message again" box. Especially since it was on earlier models. The more research I do on my unit. The more I'm disappointed. With the JV fiasco and the lack of internal memory issues I will not be looking at another Garmin for future purchases.
Are we there yet?
OK.....the short answer is
OK.....the short answer is no, you cannot remove that message on your model.
It Really Sucks!
Ok, as far as the 1490T is concerned, I can't get rid of that message also--unlike the earlier models. If I hit yes, no more messages but I've got 2 copies. If I hit no, it'll bug me every time! What are you thinking Garmin?!
Two copies, but you should
Two copies, but you should have only one entry in the Extras menu. If that is not the case then either the 1490 is radically different in that regard, or you have a different issue causing the duplication.

Give Me Back That Option!
All I want is to get rid of that message, like before with the other models. It's really not about 1 or 2 copies. I want that option back.
Tap "Yes"
I've had people explain to me their reasons for not putting the POI files on the internal memory, and quite bluntly, those reasons make absolutely no sense whatsoever with the current crop of units. With old units like the GPS III or GPS III+ the reasons make far more sense due to the limited memory of those units.
Tap "Yes" and let the files be copied from the SD to internal memory if you want that message to disappear. Problem solved.

The only reasons for keeping custom POI on an SD card are if you truly don't have enough room to load them into the main unit or you swap the SD card between several units.
I don't think there are that many of us regularly swapping between units and with the new versions of POI Loader running 5 to 7 times faster than the old version, it's just as easy to write the file to the unit itself rather than fiddling around with a micro SD. I used to write mine to the SD and then I thought about it and decided the aggravation of having to answer the same question after every update wasn't worth the little amount of RAM it would free up. With all the extraneous files deleted I have enough room for the next several iterations of maps and JCVs, so it's not a problem. The only time it might be an issue are the up to 4 times a year you update the maps.
