Added new poi's and now they are not working.

Iv'e added a few new poi's to my list of poi's which includes symbols for the display and the mp3 anouncements. I made sure all the files are the exact spelling except the file extensions, like I was told in a previous post. Now none of them seem to work or the alerts don't work. I just had a software update which I just loaded today and now I'm updating my map so the device will be out of service for a while.

Here is an example of one of the poi's I use:

Bank_of_America_ATMs_USA.csv
Bank_of_America_ATMs_USA.bmp
Bank_of_America_ATMs_USA.mp3

There is a BOA close by and I drive by it everyday and now I don't get an alert and this happened right after I added a few more poi's. If I look up a poi under where to, they are all there. When I added the new poi's I did an automatic install. I have 20 poi's loaded.

My best guess at a fix is a manual install instead of automatic.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Regular Custom POIs don't alert by default.

You must SET an alert if you want to be alerted.

Installing in Express(automatic) Mode won't result in alerts for regular Custom POIs.

You need to reinstall them and use Manual Mode and SET the alert you want.

Alerts

Could the update have set alerts to factory settings?

Tools>Settings>Proximity Points>Proximity alerts
to check.

You contrasted "automatic" vs "manual". I assume you meant "express" in POILoader. You said your last POI load was in automatic. For your BOA .csv file you will need manual.

That is what I was thinking.

That is what I was thinking. I will try that today and let you know how it went, but thanks for the quick replys.

If you add the Keyword Redlight to the .CSV file name then the POI will alert about 1/4 mile before you get to the POI. You can then use Express mode with POILoader and the alerts will work. If you convert the CSV file to a GPX file then, using a GPX editor, you can set the alert distance for each entry to a different value.

Tried this yesterday and the

Tried this yesterday and the alerts still weren't working properly correction there was no audable, but symble was there. Did some more reading and found the sox.exe wasn't in the directory with poiloader. Once I moved the sox.exe and tested it, I'm now back up and running.

Hmmm

My 750 plays mp3 files without the need for anything else to be loaded. I was under the impression that sox.exe was used by units that wouldn't play mp3 files and was used to play .wav files only.

You didn't say which unit you were using but you did list mp3 in your loaded file list. Maybe in the future it would be a good idea for everyone to tell what model GPS you use when asking questions. You'll get more accurate answers.

But I'm glad you got it working again.

Wav Files

Or, as in my case, my 660 has an mp3 player and can use mp3 audio alert files, however, due to a firmware glitch, I choose to use wav files for my audio alerts.

I play mp3 music files and load wav audio alerts with sox.exe installed with POI Loader.

Firmware version 4.80 (released December 2009) fixed the MP3 skipping issue.

It was a sloppy fix that only lowered the volume of the mp3 song playing when it played the audio alert. I didn't like the result, so I've kept the wav alert files.
